Midfielder returns to The Gas

Midfielder Luke Thomas has returned to Rovers after turning down a new contract at League One rivals Barnsley.  Thomas had a loan spell with Rovers back in League Two and after a shaky start, Thomas played his part in Rovers winning promotion back to League One making 32 appearances for The Gas and scoring once. Barton did try to sign Thomas at the start of last season , but Thomas had one year left on his Barnsley contract.

The 24-year-old made 31 appearances for Barnsley and scored twice in a season that saw the midfielder break his leg in October. Thomas has signed a three year deal with Rovers and is delighted to return to The Gas. "It's great to be back at Rovers. I'm here for three years and it's time to push on and enjoy more success here"

Thomas is Rovers second signing of the summer following for signing of Plymouth centre-back James Wilson.
