Rovers suffer defeat as Evans is sent off

Bristol Rovers suffered a 2-0 defeat away at Plymouth Argyle as the hosts edge closer to gaining automatic promotion, to make things worse Rovers had midfielder Anthony Evans sent off on 26 minutes after receiving two yellow cards.

Rovers started the game well and it was pretty even until Evans got his marching orders after receiving two yellow cards and from then on it was hard work for Rovers. The Gas did manage to keep the scores level up until halftime, but after Barton made several changes after the break it took Plymouth just 6 minutes to take the lead. Niall Ennis controlled James Wilson's floated ball into the box with his chest before calmly producing a great overhead kick into the bottom corner and just 5 minutes later it was 2-0 when Macauley Gillesphey headed home.

Rovers had goalkeeper James Belshaw to thank for keeping the score down as Rovers number one pulled off a number of saves. Rovers are 15th in League One and next face another tough away trip at promotion-chasing Peterborough United.
