Poor Rovers Lose At Vale

Bristol Rovers put in a poor performance away at Port Vale and left empty-handed.

Manager Joey Barton made four changes bringing in James Gibbons to face his former club, Sam Finley returned as well as Scott Sinclair.  The other change saw young keeper Jed Ward start in goal in place of James Belshaw.

Rovers were poor all over the pitch so it was no surprise when former Gas striker Ellis Harrison gave Vale the lead by smashing home from close range on 22 minutes. It only took Port Vale 7 minutes to double their lead, midfielder Tom Pett hit a sweet left-foot strike into the bottom left corner giving Jed Ward no chance. The young keeper stopped it being 3-0 with a decent save from striker James Wilson.

Rovers were slightly better in the second with Marquis , Evans and Collins all having chances to pull a goal back, but Rovers didn't deserve anything from the game. Next up for Rovers is a tough away trip to high-flying Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday Night.
