The Reds drew at Burton on Good Friday, with David McGoldrick scoring a late equaliser. 

Barnsley have now gone 24 games without a clean sheet in the league and while they have admittedly improved at the back in recent weeks, they still cannot seem to record a defensive shutout. 

It seems the attempt to make the Reds more solid has also taken away from some of the attacking play we saw earlier in the season. 

A third consecutive away game without a defeat is positive, however it feeds into a run of four draws and a defeat in their last five games, which adds to the current dull feel around Barnsley’s season. 

On Monday, they will host a Plymouth side who have been one of the most in-form teams in League One over recent months. 

Argyle had a torrid start to the season which saw them languishing in the bottom four, even occupying bottom of the table in November, before picking up significantly and rising to ninth place. 

They lost 2-1 at home to Bolton on Friday, however had been unbeaten in five games with four wins before that. 

Plymouth currently are the third best side in the division away from home with nine wins in 19 games on the road. 

The two sides faced off on the opening day of the season, with Barnsley winning 3-1 at Home Park. 

Plymouth signed former Barnsley midfielder Herbie Kane in January, who is on loan from Huddersfield Town. 

Barnsley head coach Conor Hourihane made 142 appearances for Plymouth between August 2011 and June 2014. 

The last time Argyle came to Oakwell they lost 3-0 in the 2022/23 season, a campaign which would see them get promoted as champions with 101 points. 

Barnsley and Plymouth have played each other 70 times, with the Reds winning 20 and losing 31.
