Barnsley sign Owen Goodman on loan

Barnsley have signed goalkeeper Owen Goodman who joins on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

 

The 22-year-old spent the first half of this season at Huddersfield Town, where he kept four clean sheets in 10 League One appearances. 

 

Goodman started this season as Huddersfield’s first choice goalkeeper; however, it was a red card at Oakwell in August for taking out David McGoldrick which saw him replaced by Lee Nicholls. 

 

The Terriers sent him back to Crystal Palace this window. 

 

It was at AFC Wimbledon in the 2024/25 season where the young goalkeeper made a name for himself, as he kept 21 clean sheets in 46 League Two matches. 

 

The Wombles had the best defence in League Two last season, and Goodman was a key part of the side that finished 5th and beat Walsall at Wembley in the League Two playoff final. 

 

He spent the campaign before that at Colchester United, and the 6’4’’ shot stopper is viewed as a promising talent.
