Barnsley midfielder Stephen Dawson has publicly apologised to Barnsley fans following his reaction to an individual fans personal abuse towards him following the full time whistle at Huddersfield.
Dawson said ‘Firstly I would like to apologise for my actions on Saturday. My emotions were high and I shouldn’t have reacted the way I did.
‘I’m really disappointed with what was said to me but I need to be professional enough to take that. The fans have paid an awful lot of money to come and see us and to lose five-nil; I can understand their frustrations and disappointment.
‘I can only apologise on my behalf and assure all the supporters it won’t happen again.’
Dawson is also going to make a significant donation to Barnsley Hospice.
