The Rotherham promotion situation has been a shambles, making a mockery of the game. In the first reader's view on glosrfc.com Uncle Mike put's across his point of view to the Kingsholm faithful.
Its a bloody disgrace!
RFU/ERL decide to put 85, yes that's eighty five conditions on a club that
should have been granted automatic promotion to the Premiership
Surely there should only be one condition, that is, if you come first in
Division One you go up, if you come last in the Premiership you go down. It
works for poofball.
It is absolutely ridiculous that the rules get changed after the season has
started, and cretinous that they are altered days before the end of the
season. However, we've known the Blazered Old Duffers to change them after
the season has finished before...
Rotherham have had a bloody good season,
played 26 games in the league, and won 24 of them, scoring 1099 points doing
so, and conceding a mere 325, oh, and they have also won some silverware
along the way, winning the inaugural Powergen Shield
compare this with the likes of Lysteria, who've so far played 21 league
games and only won 17 of them, scoring a paltry (compared to Roth) 624
points, and conceding 333
not in the same league I hear some of you say, well they bloody well should
be!!!
With a season's record like the one Rotherham have had they should be
welcomed back into the Premiership with open arms, not made to jump through
more and more ever increasing moving hoops...
What would have happened if we had been relegated at the end of last season
and had finished first in Division One this season?
Would those in the RFU that don't like Glawster have put the same barriers
in our way?
Possibly...
You can bet your life that they'll invent an 86th clause soon, if it isn't
in the 85, and that will be you cannot join the Premiership unless you've
got a stupid mascot
Anyway, rant over, here's looking to a good game at Headingley on Sunday,
for what should've been Leeds Tykes' fight to stay up, but not any more...
Glawster to win by loads, Ludo to overtake Barry Everett and score the most
Premiership points this season, Junior to get his twelfth try of the season,
Sinbad to get another hat-trick, and Arsenal to win the double (hang on,
that's just happened)
See you in Leeds, or at Castle Grim next Season
