Day 3 and one of 3 questions has been answered.  The two qualifiers from one group have been decided as Nepal and Japan have qualified for the 'Super 6's whiuch makes their game this afternoon a second stage one and the points will count towards the final standings.  Kuwait will go home.  Today there is still something to play for in both the other groups as UAE look to remove Malaysia from the equation this morning and Oman look to do the same to PNG in this evening's game.  The Nepalese are expecting a good crowd for their afternoon game as Friday is the weekend in Muscat and there are 25,000 Nepalese in the country.  This evening the nome side will be hoping for a good partisan crowd as well.

Game 7 UAE v Malaysia @Turf 1 Al Amerat Oman Friday 10 October 2025

The UAE were possibly hoping to already be in the Super 6's with 2 losses for Qatar but the Qataris beat Malkaysia yesterday and so they have to finish the job themselves in the morning game of their group.  Not sure what happens if Malaysia win but there are enough stats to sort out the order I suppose.

UAE won the toss and opted to bowl first.  They should be confident of winning this one but the game against their Arab members was closewr than expected so nothing is certain.  Aiman and Aslam Khan come out to face the UAE bowling attack of Haider Ali and Junaid Siddique.  The Malays looked like a side with a couple of strong bats so they must be hoping their guys give them a good total to defend.  Only one score over 150 has been recorded in the tournament so far so it is an optimistic hope.

Aiman was a significant bat in the first game and he goes off like a train in this one taking 11 from the first over.  His partner then gets n on the act and they take the same from the second.  The introduction of Rohit in the third changes that as he bowls Aslam for his one shot six and it is 23 for 1.

The next man in is the left handed Syed Mubarak and he looks to put together a partnership instead of the mini collapse that came in the first game until Virandeep Singh came to the crease.  The two Malaysian bats poush the score on and they have reached 48 just before the end of the 'Powerplay' when Mubarak looks to be too adventurous to a bell from Parashar which he sends into the hands of Muhammed Wassim on the third man boundary.  He is out for 4 at 48 for 2 and in comes Ahmed Faiz to complete the 6th over without adding to the score.

The Emiratis trun to spin from both ends as Samjeet Singh comes on for the 7th.  Singles from both bats bring Malaysia 50 and they have pushed on to 53 by the end of the over as Haider Ali is re-introduced into the attack.  This is a good move because at 55 he bowls Aiman one of the Malaysian dangermen for 41 from 31 with 5 fours and a six.  41 from a total of 55 shows how important his wicket is to the UAE.  The next man in is the other dangerman in the form of Virandeep Singh.  He gets straight into his work as he sixes Samjeet Singh in his first over.

By the halfway 10th over the Malaysians have moved the score on to 68 for 3 as Siddique returns to the attack for the 11th.  However, it is the battle of the 'Singhs' that is more interesting as the batting Singh takes another six off the bowling Singh in the 12th over to move the score on to 83 for 3 at the start of the 13th.

Disaster then strikes as Virandeep is run out by Chopra and Irfan working in tandem.  He goes for an undercooked 8 and it is 83 for 4 as Sayahadat strides out to take his place.  Unfortuantely he is caught by Haider Ali from the first ball he is bowled by Irfan with only 2 runs added to the total.

The next man to the middle is Sharvin Munaindy and together with Fiaz he pushes to score over 100 at the end of the 15th but as these bats are not known for their boundary power hitting it is a question how far they can push the score in the last 5 overs.

However, Fiaz is in and in the 16th he smashes a six onto the other pitch that shares this stadium to move the score to 114 for 5 and take his own score to a very creditable 44 from 29 balls.

A mix up in the running finds both bats in the middle of the pitch with the ball in a fielder's hand but both manage to get home as the fielders panic and the throw to the batting ends goes wide of the keeper.  Fiaz is left in a heap on the ground in need of some physio on what looks like a twisted ankle.  After a bit of spray he is up and at them again and we move to the end of the 17th with the score reaching 121

In the 18th Fiaz goes to a very good 50 from 34 balls as the score moves into the high 120s.  His half ton included 3 fours and 3 sixes so his reputation as a 'solid' middle order bat is probably a little condescending.

It is 130 at the start of the 19th and one would imagine that the partners have a 150 close in mind ( 10 an over in T20?  No worries!!)  Siddique may have other ideas.  However, Munaindy is doing more than just supporting as he moves to 19 from 15 with a fiercely struck four through square.  137 with 6 balls to go suggests the target is still on.  Rohid takes the last one for the UAE and a squirted single is all Munaindy can get off the first.  Another single is followed by a no ball which is only just saved by the keeper.  This results in a free hit and Fiaz says 'Thank you' and puts it into the stand.  A second six from Munaindy takes them past the 150 and they finish with Fiaz on 55 from 39 and a six from Munaindy taking the total to 161 for 5 with the bat on 41 from 22.  A decent last 10 overs and only the second score in the 7 games to pass 150.

A job to do for the UAE to progress to the Super 6 phase without any calculators having to be taken out etc.  Waseem and Irfan walk out the get the reply off the ground and they will face the bowling of Syed Aziz and Arif Ullah at the start of what will be the last game of the series for ne of the two sides.

2 off the first is followed by Irfan looking to push on and they have 14 by the end of the second.  Waseem gets in on the act in the third but Aziz gets revenge by bowling Irfan for 11 before the end of the over.  The UAE are 23 for 1 as the new man Aishan Sharafu comes out to the middle.

Munaindy is on for the 4th over and he bowls his right arm medium tightly going for only 3 runs.   They keep ringing the changes with Unni bowling off breaks in the 5th and then Hayat bowling 'different' off breaks to finish the 'Powerplay' with the Emiratis 1 short of 50.

They pass the milestone in Unni's second but only add 3.  By the 10th they have moved this on and have a momentum going with Waseem on 36 from 31 and his partner Sharafu moving to 26 from 21 in a total of 74 for 1 - a good point to move towards the target in the second half of the innings with a lot of wickets in hand.

Hayat takes the 11th and Virandeep is on for the 12th as the score moves towards 3 figures.  Waseem reaches a very good 50 (51 from 41) at 93 for 1 in the 13th and they take the single that gives them 3 figures at the end of the same over.  UAE therefore need 62 from 7 overs to take this one.  It looks like they have decided, with 9 wickets in hand, it may be time for the long handle and to get this game over and done with.  By the end of the 14th and thanks to the bat of Waseem mostly, the score has moved to 114

It is the job of the Malaysian bowlers to stop this takeover of the game by the UAE bats or this campaign is over for them.  Hiyatt and Ullah are not holding them presently though there is a fightback in the 14th by Aziz who holds the pair to 4 before giving away a wide and a boundary at the end of the over.  He does however get rid of Sharafu caught by the sub Amir for with his fourth ball for 34 from 31 at 117 for 2. The UAE move this to 123 for 2 with 5 to go.  It's the Emirati's game to lose as Kaushik joins the fight one would suggest.

Singh takes the 16th and some good fielding with some good bowling restricts the score to 129.  They are still going for it but 2 boundaries were saved in that over.  So they need 33 from 24 balls - it is still the Arab game, a few lusty blows and that target becomes easy.

Ullah returns for the 17th and his first goes into the next door pitch and that is followed by a Waseem four to make the runs required just a formality.  Unless they can keep the overs down to single figures this game gets away from them.

Ullah does get a wicket as he bowls Waseem who finally goes for a match winning 84 from 53 balls at 139 for 3 leaving the clean up job to Chopra and Kuashik as the two new bats.  Unni takes the 18th over and removes Chopra at a crucial time caught by Singh with 145 on the board.  This game is STILL on!!  

With 2 overs to go at 147 for 4, Hameed and Kaushik can see the finish line but still aren't there.  A Hammed boudary takes them over 150 to 151 from the bowling of Ullah his last ball seals the Malaysian fate as he is sent to the scoreboard for six meaning there is almost nothing to defend in the last over at 161 for 4.  Needing 1 they take 2 balls to finish with a boundary from Kaushik at 167 for 4 the UAE win by 6 wickets and go through to the Super 6's while Malaysia go home.  Kaushik ends on 18 from from 16 and Hameed has 12 from 5.

So the second group qualifiers are UAE with two wins and Qatar with 1.  They join Nepal and Japan who meet this afternoon in the first Super 6 game as Kuwait lost both their games sending their opponents through early.

Later today the final 2 spots will be decided when Oman meet PNG to decide who goes through from the trio of those two and Samoa after their win last night. 

Man odf the Match - Muhammed Waseem

Game 8 Nepal v Japan @ Turf 2 Al Amerat Oman Friday 10 October 2025

The largest game so far as we move into 'Super 6' territory as the sides in one group who have qualified meet each other before the second half of the tournament actually starts. There are between 15 and 20,000 Nepalese in Oman so one a 'weekend' Friday they have turned up in droves to support their side in this one.

Japan will bat first as Nepal won the toss and put them in.  Japan may find the Nepalese a totally different bunch to the Kuwaitis who scored big but then could not defend it.  The Nepal defence may be on another level of intensity if their first game against Kuwait is anything to go by.

Once more Fleming and Anand open for the Japenese against the agressive bowling of Kami and Airee.  They get 4 off the first over and 2 off the second - there are no long hops to flay to the boundary and the infield is quickly on anything.  The pressure builds alongside a crowd cheering every move and Yadav's third creats the pressure for the first Japanese mistake.  Fleming calls a single Anand is slow to respond and Airee is quicker.  Anand is run out for 1 and it is 11 for 1 with Rehman coming in earlier than he really would have liked.

However, as we saw in the last game, Eesam Rehman is not someone who wonders, he gets down to the job of batting and looks to take the bowlers on if they stray.  By the end of the 'Powerplay', although it has not got easier, the Japanese bats are much more in the game with 31 on the board of which Fleming has 18 from 9 while Rehman has 7 from the same number. 

The 50 arrives in the 9th with Fleming on 32 and Rehman on 11.  It haas become a competition now with every run earned.  Airee is on with spin for the 10th at 65 for 1.  Both these bats hit clean and into space but the Nepalese fielding is 'terrier like' so they need to watch everything even if runs seem certain.  70 for 1 at the halfway point and a drinks break is welcomed.

Gulsan Jha starts the second half and Fleming takes 2 from his third to rack up a 50 from 40 balls at 71 for 1.  The man can hit a cricket ball that is for sure.  Bhurtle adds his leg breaks for the 12th.  Fleming accepts the challend and sends him over the boundary for 2 sixes in 3 balls as they move on to 95 for 12 with 8 to go.  This prompts Nepal to bring back Kami and it works as Rehman is caught by Jora and has to go for 31 fro 25 including 1 four and 2 sixes. At 97 for 2 out comes Ibrahim Takahashi into a real cauldron of partisan noise where the 4 Japanese fans from yesterday are outnumbered by about 100 to 1. At 99 in the 14th the innings of Fleming ends on 60 from 46 balls as Jha gets his man via the hands of his captain Paudel and Ravichandran enters the arena.  Fleming's excellent fighting innings consisted of 5 fours and 3 sixes.  The 100 arrives with the last ball of the 14th.

Ravichandran is not long for this game however as he goes at 102 for 4 in the 14th with 1 from the 5 balls he faced.  Lamichane is the bowler who did the damage on this occasion, bowling him.  Ben Ito-Davis is the next bat in.  104 for 4 becomes 104 for 5 as Jha starts the 16th with the wicket of Takahashi for 4.  In comes Declan Suzuki and it has all gone wrong.  A 150 score with 10 overs to go has become something around 120 with 4 remaining IF the bats can stay in.

Lamachane takes the 17th at 105 for 5 and at 109 they get the next wicket as Suzuki skies one to the long on fielder who doesn't drop it. 109 for 6.  Next man in is Thomas (Sakurano). Jha bowls out with the 18th with 4/1/16/2

Kami takes his last with the 19th.  He finishes his 4 with 1 for 20 at 126 for 6 (the last scoring shot being a six).  The last over is n the hands of Yadav and he has Taylor first ball for 2.  In comes Hinze to face 5 balls or get off strike.  He gets hold of the 4th and runs to the non striker's end. Ito-Davis skies the last but it is in the air so long that they complete the sngle and it is 131 for 8.

Nepal need 132 and Japan will not defend that if yesterday is anything to go by.

Bhurtle and Sheikh open again for Nepal against the bowling of Reo Sukarano-Thomas and Charles Hinze

The Japanese bowling was patchy yesterday and it willhave to be spot on today against this batting line-up if they are to defend a small total.  Bhurtle gets to work immediately and he dominates the early overs Asif Sheikh is happy to support in the early stages.  

There are no early wickets in this innings though Shoma Slater is tried early on as well.  By the end of the 5th Nepal have moved to 36 for 1 as Slater gets Bhurtle at the end of his second over.  He is caught for a run a ball 21 by Fleming and in comes the skipper Paudel.  He will face Rahman who bowls the 5th.  The last over of the 'Powerplay' is taken by Ravichandran  Sheik takes Nepal to 50 with six that almost goes over the scoreboard.  The second ball tastes the same fate as the Nepal bat peppers the road. 62 for 1 after the mayhem.  The crowd liked it.  In the 8th there is some hope for the Japanese as Sheikh does not get all of one to his favourite scoreboard area and the fielder (Takahashi)  takes a good measured catch to send him on his way at 62 for 2.  Jora is the next man in.  The pressure seems to be getting to the fielding side as two school cricket errors give away silly runs in the space of one over.

After 9 overs gone the score is 71 for 2 as Thomas takes his second.  Nepal need 61 runs from 66 balls for the first points towards WC qualification.

At 90.5 overs and with 76 on the board, Jora hits a nothing ball towards the straight boundary and straight into the hands of the fielder (Ben  Ito-Davis) to go for 5 from 7 at the halfway stage. Malla  takes his place on the 'downhill' stretch.

Nepal are into the 90s at the start of the 12th but they lose Malla for 4 from 5 at 90 for 4 from the bowling of Suzuki.  At the start of the 13th, they lose Paudel to the bowling of Ravichandran at 90 for 5.  Gulsan Jha is the next to the crease joining his new partner Airee.  Ravichandran is convinced he has Airee with the next ball but the umpire disagrees and it adds a bit of 'spice' to the rest of the over.  At the start of the next over Jha puts the ball in the crowd to move his side to 99 as Sugoya-Slater bowls his last. he finishes with a very creditable 21 for 2 - especially as there was a six in his last over.  Much better performance than yesterday in most cases.

The 100 arrives along with a bunch of singles so with 5 to go they need 27 from 30 and Jha is dropped from the first ball of the 16th.  Can't drop these guys I'm afraid as the next ball goes for four, plus the crowd go wild TWICE!!

117 for 5 at the start of the 17th bowled by Ravichandran they need 15 from 21 and it is Nepal's hands now.  Though the Japanese have held them much tighter than was expected so they can be satisfied that they did well against one of the best sides in this tournament.

120 for 5 means 12 from 18 as Sukarano-Thomas steams in from the Pavilion end. After 3 balls of struggle Jha provides six of them and a flash brings the scores level as he luckily splits the field to the rope.  They take the single and the points as they win by 5 wickets

Man of the Match - Gulsan Jha

Game 9 Oman v PNG @Turf 2 Al Amerat Friday 10 October 2025

The first section of the tournament comes down to this game.  4 of the members of the Super 6 are decided for next week but because Samoa won one and lost one the decision on the third group comes down to this game.  If Oman win they take the group number 1 spot.  If PNG lose they go home but if they win then the three teams all have one win and it comes down to the numbers so tonight is a BIG deal for the home side Oman - who probably expected to go into this one as the lead side and also for the underdogs PNG who lost yesterday and learned from it so will be fired up for this one.  Who has the stronger will?

The Oman side for this one is;

Ashish Odedara, Jatinder Singh(c), Aamir Kaleem, Hammad Mirza, Aryan Bisht, Mohammad Nadeem, Vinayak Shukla(w), Jiten Ramanandi, Nadeem Khan, Shah Faisal, Shakeel Ahmed

Jatinder Singh  returns and retakes the captain's armband after not being in the last game which Aamir Kaleem skippered.  He did mot win the toss however and PNG decided to bowl first

So Singh  and his opening partner Odedara stride out to push for a place in the last 6 and to stop them PNG open the bowling with Ravu the tall seamer.  Singh looks to set out Oman's position and takes him for 3 consecutive boundaries in the first over.  it is 14 for 0 and we are pretty certain what Oman's plan is, to bat PNG out of this game early - something the Omani's are perfectly capable of doing.  However, they do tend to go over the top rather than split fields along the ground so it is a risky strategy.

Kabua Morea and he is a different operative all together 2 single and a leg bye is all that comes from his first visit to the crease.  However 17 for 0 after 2 is a pretty decisive start.  The bowler then takes part in the first PNG breakthrough as Alei Nao takes the third and Odedara tries to go over the top and is caught by Morea for 1 from 56 and it is 17 for 1.  It was an optimistic shot and the only result is that PNG are up for this.

In comes the left handed Kaleem at number 3 and Oman may want to reset their plan as this PNG side seem not to be happy to just roll over and let the home side through.  17 for 1 stays 17 for 1 and Nao confirms this with a wicket maiden first up.

The ball is given to Kariko for the fourth and despite the batting side looking to put the ball away the result is just a series of singles until Kaleem misses a straight one at the end of the over and is LBW for 1. Oman are 20 for 2 after 4!

In comes Hammad Mirza as Nao continues.  He keeps Singh quiet except for one boundary that gets through and we move into the last over of the 'Powerplay' where Morea returns and he sends the home side skipper back to the dressing room with his second ball and John Kariko's hands.  He goes for 19 from 19 with 4 fours and the problem seems apparent. The Omanis want to impose themselves but want to do it via boundaries rather than simple run accumulation.  They are trying to get through but keep finding fielders and are now 25 for 3 with Aryan Bisht joining the newly arrives Mirza with only 1 to his name.  After 6 the batting side have 27 for 3.

2 runs off of Nao in the 7th increases the pressure and when Ravu returns in the 8th, Mirza seems determined to continue the plan but again, he finds the fielder Patrick Nou and he goes for 5 the same way as the bats before him.  32 for 4 in the 8th is NOT where the hosts wanted to find themselves.  PNG are pumped in comparison, not suprisingly.

The fast medium Toka takes his first spell for the 9th and we have the off break of Bau to take us to the halfway point in the first innings Oman arrive there at 41 for 4.  During the corresponding drinks break, coach Dileep Mendis is out on the pitch talking the new plan through with his men because they have to reclaim this game or this tournament could well be over for them.  The question is, can PNG keep the pressure on?

Toka continues with the eleventh and it is not until Bisht opens his shoulders to produce the first six of the innings off Kariko in the 12th that Oman pass the 50 mark to go to 51.  At 55 for 4 the over ends with Bisht showing a willingness to take on the responsibility for getting his side to a score they can defend successfully.  However, as has been the case, PNG are not going to just lie dowqn and accept that.  In the 13th Toka gets Bisht to guide one to Hila Vare who takes the catch.  Another Omani bat promises but doesn't push on and Bisht goes for 19.  This introduces the keeper Vinayat Shukla to the crease.

He goes to the boundary at the end of the over and moves Oman to 65 for 5 with 8 to go.  Nadeem who replaced Mirza when he was out has moved on to 10 at the other end and these two have to look to get as far over 100 as they possibly can without losing their own 'lives' cheaply.

Kariko takes the 14th and Ravu returns to take the game to 5 from the changeover.  Oman have moved to 83 with Shukla hitting a six off the final ball to take his own score to 18 from 9.  30 balls to make something of this Omani score.

Morea returns and Nadeem looks to re- assert his position taking 10 in 2 balls from the PNG bowler.  This moves Oman to 4 from 100 with 4 overs to go.  It is the time for bowlers to bowl out and the first is Damien Ravu in the next one.  Oman cause themselves problems however from the first ball of the 17th however as both bats find themselves at the same end and Nadeem is run out for 28 from 26 including the two boundaries in the previous over.  Shah Faisal comes in and the 100 comes at the end of the over.  101 for 6.  Thats should NOT be enough. Ravu finishes with 1 for 43 from his 4

Kariko bowls out with the 18th he starts it with 18 for 1 to his name.  Shukla hits him for a four and a six and with a couple of other runs (1 a leg bye) he finishes to over with figures of 1 for 29. Still not too shabby.  Nearly all the runs are being scored by Shukla who has moved to 32 from 18 while Faisal has 2 from 4.

The 19th is Nao's last of the evening and 5 singles plus a Shukla four takes Oman to 122 for 6.  Shukla has moved to 38 from 21 while Nao completes his spell with 4/1/15/1.  An excellent spell.

6 balls from Morea complete this. Faisal gets Shukla on strike with the first.  The keeper hits the next for six causing the PNG bowler to 'wide' thew third.  He hits the next for four and is on for a 50 but then is caught by Gaudi Toka from the next ball to finish on 48 from 24 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes.  He may not have gor the half ton, but he has given his side something of a chance in this game though it is down to the bowlers to perform with what is JUST a defendable total.  The last two balls see Nadeem Khan at the crease and he takes a pair of pairs to finish with and Omani total of 138 for 7.  Not the most impressive or sensible batting seen by the hosts in T20s.  A few weeks ago they showed their ability to accumulate against India who thay took to the line before narrowly losing.  Tonight, possibly through a little arrogance or being off the boil a bit, they neasrly threw this away and will have to bowl really well to stay in it even now.  PNG bowled much better than they did on Thursday but they will need to keep their heads batting to pass this total.  It is a score sides have won AND lost with.  We'll see where we are in 20 overs.

So it is down to 20 overs.  PNG need to score 139 and Oman need to strangle the PNG batting, either take 10 wickets or stop them getting momentum in their innings.

Sesi Bau and Gaudi Toka are first in the firing line as Shah Faisal opens the bowling attack.  He produces 2 wides and the bats both get off the mark to finish the first with 5.  Shakeel Ahmed is the Omani second new ball bowler and he only allows a pair of singles from each bat in his first.  Faisal makes the first breakthrough as he bowls Toka for 2 with the first ball of his second.  It is 9 for 1 as Lega Siaka comes to the middle and three more runs takes the PNG total to 12.

Ahmed's fourth over also results in a wicket as Saika is bowled for 2 and it is 12 for 2.  Again 3 more runs in the over takes the score to 15 for 2 as Nou joins Bau .  This must have put PNG on the backfoot which is exactly what Oman wanted to do so the bowlers are doing their job.

Faisal cannot keep it going though as the PNG bats counter attack and Bau produces consecutive fours at the end of the 5th.  the over goes for 10 and it is 25 for 2 as they move towards the end of the 'Powerplay'.  They move to 31 by the end of the 6th.

Singh turns to Aryan Bisht in the 7th but PNG continue to settle.  So he then turns to Nadeem Khan but Bau and Nou move the score into the 40s.  So his third change bowler is Jiten Ramanandi and this one works as he has Nou caught by Bisht for 19 from 20 - taking out the bigger scorer of the partnership and bringing a new bat to the crease in the form of Assad Vala at 48. for 3.

Bisht returns to the attack to take the innings to the halfway stage.  2 singles take the score to 50 and 2 more with FOUR wides from the bowler mover the batting side to 56.  The PNG side still need 83 from 60 balls - the pressure is on but the score is still quite possible unless the bowlers can keep the wickets coming or sry the runs up.

Over number 11 is left with Ramandandi and goes for 9.  Number 12 sees the introduction of Mohammed Nadeem.  Bau is putting together an innings that must worry the Omanis but Ramanandi produces the required reply in his next over as he bowls the bat for 35 from 34 (including 3 fours) at 71 for 4 to take the sting out of the PNG tail again.

Vare comes in to shore up the innings and the new pair push through into the 14th against Nadeem but the Omani bowling attack keeps finding gaps in the batting line-upo and Nadeem bowls Vare for 2 at 76 for 5. Ravu replaces him.   Half the bats are gone and PNG are only just over halfway to the total with jjust over 5 over to go.  The RRR has moved up towards 10 an over and there aren't many balls left.

Ravu arrives at the end of the 14th at 76 for 5 but unfortunately Vala leaves at the start of the 15th caught by the Omani captain off the bowling of Shakeel Ahmed.  76 for 5 is 76 for 6.  One ball later it is 76 for 7 as the new man Ray is bowled by Ahmed first ball.  It is starting to look like the game is all over as the guts seem to have been ripped out of the PNG middle order.  In comes Morea, halfway through the 15th with a mountain to climb to win this game.  All the initiative is with the home side and the body language in the middle says the same. 

With 5 to go at 78 for 7 139 is miles away and when Ravu is caught by Bisht off the bowling of Khan early in the next over it does seem like only a matter of time.  Nao is in and out for 4 before the end of the over and PNG go into the 16th at 82 for 9 with little hope of going any further.  Morea shows some fight by hitting Ramanandi for a four before he is bowled by the fourth ball of the over and the game is done with Oman winning by 52 runs with 3.2 overs left.

It did not look probable when the 6th wicket of the Omani ininngs went down but the batting of Shakul and a good overall bowling performance but particularly the 3 wickets of Shakeel Ahmed pulled them up by the bootstraps and got the job done.  They go into the Super 6's as the top side in their part of the series and hopefully they have learned a few things about themselves in the process so they can be more effective against stronger opposition who willnot fold so easily.  Having said that, PNG were a much more coherent unit in this game than the one on Thursday and although they could not keep it solid enough against an experienced bowling attack to take the win they certainly made the Omanis sit up and take notice of their ability in this game.

Sunday starts the 'Super 6's' where 11 games will decide which three sides go to the T20 World Cup next year.  Oman, UAE, Nepal all start next week with 2 points in the bag as they have all beaten the second side in each section of the series Samoa, Qatar and Japan respectively.  They all now play the sides they have not yet played and the top three go on.

It all starts at 10 am on Sunday and let the best sides win.

Apologies if you desperately want to read about what happened on Day 2!!

The story is written and on the site but there seems to be a glitch between it and the thread. I've asked SN HQ to have a look because I can't do anything from this end.

Hopefully normal service will be resumed as soon as.
