Gloucester's Prem Cup team came away from the Mennaye with a hard fought 26-19 victory which showed that this competition is worthwhile for clubs in the top two tiers . Better than watching Wales on telly tbh.

It was nip and tuck throughout after Danny Eite showed his pwer with an early try only for Pirates to come back with a converted try from Matt Cannon.

Gloucs had the better of the territory but couldn't add to their score and went in at the break 7-5 down - much to the delight of the vocal Cornish support.

Eite restored his side's lead early in the second half with  George Barton taking his chance to dart through for the third after a long spell of pressure with Will Butler getting that important fourth try.

Pirates came back with scores from Harry Hocking with ten minutes left and there was a rousing finish when Pirates' Tom Agbonbon crossed  from  a tap penalty.

The crowd of more than 2,000 fancied a shock win. It didn't happen and Gloucester are now joint top of Pool E with Chiefs.
