Thankfully it's been a quiet summer at Kingsholm as rugby's attention has, unfortunately, focused on affairs at Worcester and Coventry. Hopefully, the Premiership will finish the season with the 13 teams it starts with this weekend including Wasps who kick off our season at Kingsholm on Sunday (3.00). 

Ed Slater has most deservedly captured our attention for his bravery in the face of Motor Neurone Disease and his reaction through his tremendous fundraising efforts.

His replacement in the squad is our only new signing. Twenty nine year old Fijian Albert Tuisue arrived from Irish and will provide some extra aggression from the back row.

The other big news was the return to fitness of Jake Polledri (right) after his cruel knee injury playing for Italy when he was at the peak of form. 

Coach Skivington has quietly built his side over the past two seasons. Now is the time for all that work to come to fruition courtesy of a pack which will dominate many games and a back division rich in talent.

Top Four is not too much to hope for.
