The monkey is off our back. The 22-14 win over fellow strugglers Worcester was not easy but it stops a run of games in which we could have won but failed to tough it out. 

We also, unusually,  managed to hold ourselves together when Balmain was yellow carded shortly after the break followed by Reid on 65 minutes and Carrera with just a couple of minytes left on the clock. Going more than a quarter of a game with just 14 men is not advised.

With Wales v England on BBC it was anxious few minutes of channel hopping as the games overlapped. Well worth sticking with Gloucs though for only our second win of the season.

Wuss were in the lead for a large part of the game. They went ahead through a fine score from Nick David with Twelvetrees crossing to make it 7-5 to the visitors at the break..

A  penalty try increased their advantage. Fortunately, we clicked into gear with two quick tries from Matias Alemanno and Tom Seabrook to take the lead with a quarter of the game left.

 George Barton slotted a  penalty to finish things off - although Wuss would have got a deserved point if Shillock's kick hadn't hit the woodwoork at the very end.

A relieved George Skivington told the media: "It was scrappy in parts - I don't think we started the game particularly well.

"When we're in a hole, the boys stick together and keep working. We had to do that all game because Worcester made it very hard, but I'm very pleased with the way the lads managed their way through it."
