Winning in La Rochelle in front of a baying crowd was never going to be easy but the comprehensive nature of the 42-13 defeat is a little worrying.

It will be a little more genteel next Tuesday night wheh we face Quins at Twickenham in one of the big holiday games, and it's to be hoped the wide open spaces suit  our runners.

They weren't given many opportunities in France   as the massive home pack dominated. John Afoa got our only try on the night and topping the group is pretty much now out of hands when fixtures resume in mid- January.

We are level on points with La Rochelle in Group One but they have a better record,  and on the form they showed on Saturday you wouldn't bet against them getting maximum points from their games against Treviso and Bayonne.
