Is there any other game where defence can be so thrilling and enjoyable? Gloucs and Wasps worked up a vertitable tide of tension in an absorbing second half which ended in delight for the Kingsholm faithful as poor old Jimmy Gopperth saw his last ditch drop goal to sail wide ..

Being honest a draw may well have been the fairest outcome, but we will take the 13-10 against the form team, rejoice in our sixth place, and welcome the prospect a seat at the top table.

We had the better of the first half with Richard Hibbard going over to give us a 10-3 half time lead.

That was soon cancelled out by Christian Wade and Gopperth and both skides went at it hammer and tongs.

Our chances were not helped by a string of injuries to Cook, Purdy and McAllister all going off early and then poor old Billy Burns being strechered off injured in the last quarter.

Greg Laidlaw had nudged us in front on 58 minutes with a penalty, and at that stage nobody would have bet on it being the final score. Despite kitchen sinks being thrown at both ends it was.
