Tinds tries rallying call

36-3 ... it says it all really. Gloucester were beaten as comprehensively as the score suggests and Leicester were as far ahead as the points margin indicates. A rout, a hammering, a thrashing ... it was all of those, and more.

Yet Glaws were in front in this Welford Road mudbath, but not for long.

Freddie Burns kicked an early penalty, but tries from Logovi’I Mulipola, Steve Mafi and Ben Youngs found no response from the cherry and whites before half-time, and after the break further tries from Matt Smith and Alesana Tuilagi gave Toby Flood the opportunity to rack up four conversions and a penalty.

Glaws coach Bryan Redpath wants the answer to one simple question …why did his team turn up in body, but not in mind.

He told the BBC: "We were well and truly beaten. You have got to turn up and do the basics, but our basics weren't good enough.

"Mentally, we didn't turn up. It does not mean you are a bad team, but we have lost to a side that has always thrived in conditions like that.

"There were some harsh words said at half-time, and we will take the criticism. I want to know why we didn't turn up, mentally."

He’s got three weeks to find out before Gloucester’s next game, at home to Exeter, but after a humiliation like this the inquest could last for even longer than that.

What he needs to do is make sure form like this is forgotten and Glaws are in the right frame of mind again when the Chiefs come calling.

After that good run of results came crashing down to earth with such a clatter, a top four place suddenly looks a much more difficult proposition.
