The fact that Gloucester have announced their pre-season diary shows that while the Premiership season is more than two months away and we still have non-events in South Africa and Wimbledon to endure, it’s getting closer all the time and supporters at last have something concrete to look forward to.

Glaws are off to Portugal for a pre-season training week at a sports and leisure complex in the sun at the end of July, a venue they have used before and while many fans will wonder why such a trip is necessary, the coaches clearly believe it has benefits.
A fortnight later, on August 14, Glaws start their friendly programme with a match against Scarlets at Kingsholm.
A week after that they are off into Wales to play Ospreys in Swansea, though the exact timing will depend on the Swansea City football fixtures as they share the Liberty Stadium with their rugby counterparts.
A week later, on Friday August 27, there's a longer journey, this time to Cork in Ireland to play Munster.
On the sevens front, Glaws have been drawn to play Bath, Exeter and hosts Northampton at Franklins Gardens on Friday July 30.
After the frustrations of the last two seasons, the fans have very right to expect an improvement from Glaws in 2010-11, and coach Bryan Redpath will be under immediate pressure to produce results after, not unreasonably, getting the chance to bed in as boss last season.
He'll be hoping the club's international players report back without too many bumps and bruises after their mixed fortunes all over the world, giving him and the rest of the coaching staff a clear road as they prepare the squad for the season.
