Pearce sees red over kit choice for final

The mood on Friday after the Final of the Under 21 European Championship had been decided could not have been more different between the two camps. For Stuart Pearce and his boys it was a moment of reflection and preparation, as the enormity of the historic fixture set in.

Germany on the other had are believed to have celebrated their place in the final by blasting out Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ on the bus journey back to camp.

Germany clearly believe that the momentum is with them – this despite the fact that many neutrals watching the competition have been convinced that England have the best squad.  And there is no disputing that psychological factors will play a big part in tonight’s final.

Germany, the designated home team for the final tonight, have decided to wear their red kit rather than their normal white.  The Germans only made their decision on which kit to wear late on Saturday, meaning a return to camp for England’s kit man, who like Pearce and the rest of the guys fully expected England to be wearing their red kit – like they did in their triumphant World Cup victory in 1966.

The last minute change of kit won’ t phase Stuart Pearce however, who remains confident his side can emerge victorious whatever colour they wear.  But he’s keeping his decisions over team selection close to his chest.

i prefer the white kit anyway. It's the performanc enot the kit that will hopefully bring us all victory
