Going, going, .........

I think this is an exhaustive list of players departing at the end of the season. We know where some are going but with no official announcements I, at least, am unsure as to the destinations of the others. Can anybody add to this?

Sam Simmonds - Montpellier

Joe Simmonds - ?

Jack Nowell – La Rochelle

Luke Cowan-Dickie - Montpellier

Dave Ewers - Munster

Stuart Hogg - Retired

Solomone Kata - ?

Jannes Kirsten - Stormers

Ollie Leatherbarrow - Newcastle

Jack Maunder - ?

Ben Moon - Retired

Sean O’Brien - Munster

Ian Witten - Retired

Harry Williams - ?

Joe Simmonds is going to Pau by all accounts. Kata to Leicester. Harry Williams to Montpellier.

Regarding Jack Maunder, there hasn't been as far as I'm aware anything speculated in the media apart from confirmation from Baxter that he will be leaving. Hopefully he gets a good club where he can continue his career.

I would also say that LCD is now probably a ? As to where he will be playing Rugby next season, Montpellier now seem to be out of the running.

LCD has been linked with Sale. I read somewhere that Quins were looking at Jack Maunder a while back.

I think any 'linkage' is pretty loose. Alex Sanderson expressed an interest but said he hadn't actually spoken to LCD.

Most players were told last year so they had chance to look around, Maunder was only told around March, too late to be sorting new contracts out with new clubs.

Not a good way to treat any player.

That is extraordinarily late - what you would expect from a sacking but I suppose Chiefs would argue a forced redundancy! Not much sentiment or thanks there.

Why would the club leave it so late? Maybe there’s a reason that’s unknown ……maybe some gross misconduct …….how much notice does a player have to be given?

Something quite strange going on here. I'm sure Jack has a agent, they all seem to, so why was his agent not chasing his contract position? To leave it open until March seems to me to be a dereliction of duty on the agent's behalf. Why did Jack apparently fall out of favour, not even making the 23?

There are always two sides to a story and we will never know the truth- all players have agents etc it’s their job to deal with contract matters, it’s not that ‘they didn’t know the contract was ending this year’!

There is an Agent, a very good one, but if you are told that you will be offered a new contract, and you want to stay, then why would you look elsewhere ? In my opinion, this looks like the coaches decided they had better take a look at the young guys, gave them a few games then made a decision they were worth a punt, there was no way they would have made a decision to lose Jack and sign the new boys without seeing them play ! that meant they could save a big chunk of money by not renewing Jack's contract. They probably thought they could get 3 for the price of one !! Trouble is, that decision was made too late in the day for Jack.

Your agent would be looking elsewhere to give you some clout in your negotiations with the club. You don't need to have any intention of going elsewhere, but you do need to demonstrate that you could get paid more elsewhere.

Whatever the agent was or was not doing it does not sound as if the player and the coaches were speaking the same language about the future.
