Worcester Warriors have won just one of their last eight Gallagher Premiership Rugby matches, a dip in form which now sees the at the foot of the league table.

The Warriors have won three of their last five fixtures at Sixways in Premiership Rugby with the two defeats there being against Northampton and Harlequins.

Exeter Chiefs have won their last four Gallagher Premiership Rugby fixtures since their 26-27 defeat at home to Wasps on 5 February. The Chiefs have won six of their last eight away games in Premiership Rugby this season.

The two clubs have met on nineteen previous occasions in Premiership Rugby with Worcester’s only victory so far being 6-5 at Sandy Park in February 2018.

Great stats Lowerwatha. Thanks. Thankfully the home loss was a rare missed game for me as I heard it was more than a little tedious!
I see we have Tom Foley as TMO again. After last week's fiasco, do we anticipate some pragmatism, or advise to Sir of a possible infringement 10 minutes ago? Interesting that he's been Sir on our last 2 visits to Sixways.

That is a strong and very mobile looking chiefs team. Max Norey must be starting to impress. Shame we are never seeing O'Brien but otherwise that is the team you would expect. Hopefully if weather fairly decent might see a few tries!!

Greetings from Worcester on a very damp, dull afternoon. Hopefully it will be brighter, and warmer, tomorrow. And a reminder, for those coming up the M5 and sitting in the East Stand, that if we have some sun tomorrow peaked caps are recommended.

I think the posters above have been very kind as regards a projected score for Worcester in double figures. We would be delighted if that were to happen.

Worcester is going through another of its reconstructions, they seem to come along, every couple of years, and we look with some envy at teams like Exeter who have had long periods of managerial / coaching stability - not to mention squad stability.

We are now in the early days of the Diamond era but so far there has been little impact on results that we mere supporters can see. This is due in part to an injury list which includes many key players but also to Diamond's policy of giving fringe players an opportunity to show that they are worthy of contract renewal, players who might not have been the "first pick" for a particular game.

So, all in all, I'm going to be at Sixways tomorrow to enjoy the company whilst being realistic as to any prospects of even getting close to Exeter's score.

Hi A38! Our matches at your place have generally been high scoring occasions, and particularly close over recent years! I have a feeling the Diamond effect will kick in once he knows what he's got to work with, and probably why he's testing some fringe players. Just hope it won't start this weekend 😁
Looking forward to your hospitality for our match, and the Eng v Ire game too. Hope there's plenty of beer!

Sums up our season, we’ve worked incredibly hard in the last few weeks to get ourselves to 4th, only to blow what should have been a 5 point win. Every game from now on is going to be a cup final, top 3 teams to play plus 2 games v Munster and Bristol and Bath won’t be easy, even at our very best I think we might struggle to get 4th spot. Next 2 games at home are massive, really need to get pack SP and get them over the line

I would probably have taken 2 points after the red card. 2 points not a disaster on the road BUT we could have won that game with our 14.
2 individual errors directly cost us tries, one was a 14 point swing. How many intercept try passes has Sam Maunder thrown in the last month or so?
2? 3??
Also the individual missed tackle count I imagine will be off the charts for us unusually, some of that will be down to 14 men but not all.
We had 2 second rows starting that are not second rows so it is no surprise the line out still wobbled at times and hampered our game again.
The positive notes, the scrum and maul in particular functioned well and I am not too despondent with a defeat today.
At least it wasn't a defeat to a rival for a top four place.
We are still a very decent side that work very hard for each other and are improving slowly but let's hope that Henry comes through the next couple of weeks unscathed as our back line attack still relies solely on him.
Can't fault the boys for their effort today at all. That was top drawer 👏

What type of hold is it that the Maunder family has over RB? Must be front page stuff.
Been infuriating enough with one of them, now we’ve got another whose quickly becoming the king of intercept passing from 9 in Prem.

Heinz was a big difference in that game, not predictable and seemed to get the ball out faster. But the game was lost by the unfortunate but correct red card, a few centimetres to the right and the heads would not of clashed.
We will have to take max points off tigers and Quins now, we were robbed at Quins time for revenge.

A very disappointing outcome from a match we were all expecting to win after the past few weeks results against much better opposition. Our back 5 in the pack were superb Ewers the best forward on the pitch by some margin, but stupid individual errors and an off form kicker from the tee cost us dearly.
No excuses for the high tackle just rank poor technique and execution. Why he did not drop down to tackle is just stupid.

With all the momentum in our favour at the start of the second half for Sam Maunder ( for the third time in just an handful of games all we have gone on to lose) throwing a dreadful intercept try changed the game totally. He appears to blindly throw passes without looking at the picture in front of him, just not good enough at this level.

Yes we missed some tackles but to kick the ball back to a dangerous running team when we had one back down was again not thinking straight for me, we were winning the collision battle keep it tight work your way up the field.

Makes top four a very big ask now I’m afraid.

Finally pleased to see Norrey score great for the young lad and a fabulous shift from the forwards to get us the bonus points in the last few minutes.

Suggest it's harsh to say Joe "off form" as it was a very strong wind left to right from the East stand, right to left as viewed on TV. Sure Joe, as a pro, will be disappointed, but by no means gimmes. Our tries being out wide was the difference. Much better outcome than England when down to 14, 80 minute performance, disappointing to be pushed into touch at close. Heinz, not for me, nor I suspect Mr Baxter. Listening over Reflink Sir was selective in what he reacted to from his ARs and TMO, after the red contact to head by Warriors in tackle not reviewed. Later Dave Ewers, not a "softy whinger" was miffed at being elbowed in the throat, captain's request to review dismissed. Two points in the circumstances was a result, 6N block for us way better than we could have hoped for.

It is an odd feeling not to feel humiliated after a game with Exeter, but nice none the less. Your forwards are immense in the maul, running onto the ball and scrum but the lineout was poor. I was disappointed in your wingers who frankly were outshone by the Wuss youngsters. I am afraid a red card all day in the current climate. I rememer seeing Hodge play for Falcons Seconds in the A league, he still looks a good prospect.
Thanks to all those supporters who travelled and ensured a good atmosphere. Very different sides next week I would think.

Couldn't watch so listened on devon live. Sounds like red card was fair and probably cost the game. The pack was obviously immense but with a game in hand over us, and a much easier run in of games Gloucester looking good for a top four spot; still a chance for us but unlikely if we do not beat Leicester and Harlequins at home and get some points at Sarries away. It may all come down to us or Quins - who have a similar tough set of fixtures - at Sandy Park for fourth spot. Lose next week and we will be battling for a top six.

Four of their tries were entirely down to our mistakes, one interception, two defensive howlers and a slip by Hodge. Other than that they never really looked like scoring ! Conditions were not easy, it might have looked nice on TV but the wind was incredibly strong !! Our line out was shocking, yet again I lost count of how many we lost in good attacking positions, win those and it could have been a totally different game. Back 5 were really strong again but some players simply didn’t step up defensively. Heinz did ok but his job was made a lot easier by the red card, all he had to do was attack the side where we had least numbers. I would have JM over Heinz every day !
Yes, that was 3 points dropped, but given the red card, 2 points was a good escape.

Greetings from a very surprised but very pleased Worcester. Undoubtedly the red card had a great influence on the result as did our young backs' ability to capitalise on mistakes.

One of Diamond's current themes is that there is still much work to do and one area in particular is penalties conceded. Another area is the pack and I must admit to some jealousy looking at your forwards in action, especially the yards they made consistently.

The score board reflects these factors: Worcester's tries were scored by the back three, Exeter's by forward power.

And that forward power very nearly won the match. Diamond only replaced the front row at the last moment, a likely indication of his views on the ability of the bench, but those players left on the pitch had very little left to give, batteries were utterly drained. Another ten minutes would have seen a very different result.

It's always a pleasure to have a chat with Exeter supporters visiting Sixways. You're a friendly lot, we appreciate that. Hope everybody who came had a safe journey home.

Just watched the 'highlights on BT' and listened to Rob's post match interview. The failure to sort our line out - which has been a long term issue - is a real frustration. With the loss of Johnny Hill next season it is a big cloud over what will happen in 2023. Is it coaching, technical stuff or tactics - any views? Looking at the highlights only I cannot think that was not a match where three points were 'thrown' away even with fourteen men. I had not realised we had a 3 or four man overlap when the interception happened. Two of the tries was not a missed tackle by one player but two or three on each occasion. Credit to the try-scorer but no wonder Rob sounded frustrated - it could be season defining. So much was good in the spirit of the players after the red card; it is an odd balance of praise but also brutal realism which is needed to recover momentum for the season. Leicester next is a final in its significance for our season and if we get through that five points away at Bath is essential. Difficult to see our priorities with team selections with Munster after that and Sarries away the following week.

Following Cornwallchiefs last post, I thought I’d better watch the highlights as well, OMG, the missed tackles were far worse than I thought watching the game at Sixways !!!! The intercept was just rotten luck in my opinion, SM had to make the pass and it had to be flat, had their player not read it so well, it would, 100% have been a Chiefs try. We should have won that game, even with 14 men.

If there was a league table for average time to take a lineout I’m guessing we would be top. That allows the opposition greater to to be organised and challenge. Of course, there’s far more to it than that but it has to be a major factor to our poor lineout success.

Hi Broken Arrow - I think the real problem sometimes with our interceptions is we are so predictable. We often throw long miss passes but IMO sometimes it is not really needed. Moving the ball cleanly through the hands is often a better option than missing throwing long and missing a man - I think it was in this case. The non -tackles though were on a different level - really poor and decided the match as I am sure you agree. I always try to watch as much as I can of games even after I have been watching them at Sandy Park - it is so interesting to watch and look for things one missed in the emotion of the match. On a slightly different tack Jack Nowell, in the internationals did far more kick chasing than he often does for us in the prem and he was very effective at it. It was good to see and I hope we see it more often at Sandy Park when he is on the wing

It's possible (probable?) I'm being a little one-eyed here ... but ... it feels to me that we throw in very much down the line as are the laws, but others less so. The problem is compounded by long throws where the angle of throw allows the opposition much more visibility of the ball. Sir's don't seem to object to short throws being received above the jumpers own head ... as long as it's not over the outside shoulder.

Hi DumnoniiNomad,
Certainly I am often surprised by the length of our throws when it is very windy especially when the lineout is so fragile. It seems to me also that our biggest problems are often when we are in the opposition 22 which makes it all the more frustrating as we invariably lose great attacking momentum.

It amazes me that our opponents always attack our lineout yet we rarely seem to attack theirs ! Our throws seemed very low which meant that the opponents just had to put a jumper up near the front to challenge for the ball ??

No surprise that our line out didn't function yesterday.
Don is still very good but not the player he was a few years ago and he is not a lock,he is a back rower that covers lock when we are short.
Jannes is a back rower,a very good one but he also covers lock when we are short.
We had two back rows covering/running our out line out yesterday. It was never really going to function fluently and the opposition know this and will use any chance they can to put pressure on and they will compete.
When we actually have a couple of genuine line out specialists in our second row, that will be a true barometer of how good or bad our line out is.

Thanks Zyder head. A very good point for that match but it has been a problem for a long time.
As you say it might explain things from yesterday and also as you say it has been a problem for a while.
My personal feelings are that our line out in particular has suffered the most through the disruption with absences/ injuries this season.
Injuries and absences of Luke,Jonny H,Johnny Gray,Sam S,Will Witty,Sean Lonsdale,Christ etc have meant constant changes in personel and callers, throws etc. It must be incredibly difficult, impossible really to get any fluency with a line out which has so many moving parts when you constantly have to have different people from week to week.
We have in previous seasons been pretty lucky with injuries really but that has all changed this season.
If we can keep a settled line out team until the end of the season it could make all the difference to the end of our season.

Having now seen the highlights we really did throw away three extra points there! The intercept try really changed the game and was a proper 14 point change. Hodge slipping at the crucial moment is just bad luck, hopefully we get a run of good luck now. On the positive side that was a great effort by the forwards to keep us in the game. Also, both Sam and Jack had excellent games for England and should come back full of confidence, lets hope they all get through the weekend with no injuries!
We really need Henry back to add some creativity to our centre pairing, most other positions we have decent cover but no one comes close to offering what Henry does!

Did we finish with nine forwards on the pitch? I counted Kenny, Williams, Norey, Schickerling, Witty, Kirsten, Capstick, Vermeulen, and Ewers at 73 minutes.
No complaint on the Red. The constant attempts to smother tackle , and/or make a dominant hit, mean that under the current regime reds will be common.
Wuss showed the benefits of blazing pace in the back three.
Now very difficult to achieve 4th unless we can win v Tigers, Sarries,Bristol & Bath. Don’t expect to do Harlequins.

On Saturday there were 2 facets of our game that were well below par.
1 was our line out. This has been an underlying problem for a while as discussed above and I imagine (hope) it will improve as players return 🤞
2 was our tackling. That was shocking by our high standards and I hope that is a one off blip.
Other parts of our game are really coming together and I am confident that we can finish the season really well.
Jacques has really added to our forward carrying and gain line tackling so if Dave and Jacques can stay fit and we get the line out sorted I believe we are capable of winning all of those games.
As Rob has said many times it is all about momentum and I get the feeling we are getting ours at the right time.
It all depends on the Tigers game for me,win and we are right in there pitching and have some serious momentum, lose and we are struggling.
Some of our key players will be relatively fresh compared to other teams.
We will miss Luke badly though and we desperately need Henry to stay fit. 🤞

I was talking yeserday to one of the Wuss staff and we agreed that the player you are missing is the scrum half ? NIc White who went around two years ago.

That is a common belief, but, there is no getting away from the fact that with Nic White, we won nothing, with Jack Maunder, we won the double and lost narrowly in another prem final.

This years problems are all down to the number of key players we’ve had missing from our pack for most of the season !!

In Rob we trust.
By the way - cream on first. There's nothing to debate.

With the talent around him at their best we did win the double , if i am correct we lost the final and maunder came on in the second half and a poor box kick gave the possession back to sarries who eventually won. Maunder is only average at best ,nothing special for sure and in a league thats forever improving we need more to stay in touch. Stu Townsend will fill the spot in time when hes back match fit. As for Nic White I personally thought he was one of the best additions the chiefs ever had ,always had the opposition guessing , mistakes at times but a top class scrum half.
