Have we seen the back of the West Country Challenge Cup
Have we seen the back of the West Country challenge cup?

Well I for one hope so as it's not really felt like a genuine pre-season although I suppose the small matter of a rugby World Cup might have had something to do with the feeling. Last weeks visit to The Mem to watch Chiefs beat Glaws was a most peculiar affair with both sides using pitch time for different purposes. Glaws were content kicking the ball into touch as the Chiefs practiced giving away penalty after meaningless penalty. This wasn't the most effective use of their time given the lack of return on the investment but I suppose they must have got something from it. The Chiefs at least appear to have come out unscathed physically although I imagine Rob Baxter stung them with a few well chosen words. Glaws on the other hand returned to Kingsholm nursing a few injuries. The final result means Chiefs have won the competition even before the final game v Bath. I guess this game will have more on it though as the sides meet you the following week in the first Premiership game of the season.
