Chiefs fail to deliver in the first half and give Tigers too much of a lead.
Rob Baxter didn't pull any punches in his after match interview and pretty much summed up my feelings. Probably the worst 40 minutes since the Chiefs were promoted to the Prem. It's really frustrating when you look at the second half as the team did what they do best I.e. play with the ball in hand.
As has been said a bad 40 minutes does not make you a poor side. Plenty of things that need improving such as the lineout and some aspects of the scrum but we need to remember who we were playing. Tigers aren't champions for nothing, they are clinical and some may say cynical to great effect.
I have no doubt that the guys will want to address the problem areas in training this week and will be fired up for the visit to castle grim.
I want to finish on some positives from the match though. Dave Ewers was well worth his MoM award but I think Sam Hill ran him really close. Tom James is a potential game changer with his pace and power and I thought young Henry Slade added something when he came on as did Dave Lewis. I wouldn't be surprised if Rob doesn't give them both a start next week.
