First half performance was very poor - we hardly touched the ball in the first 20 and when we did kicked it away. Why do we need the coaches to point out the way to play in the second half? Leadership on the pitch is not just down to the skipper. We have a number of senior players and they should be stepping up to the plate to change the style of play as necessary.

Our line-out has been abysmal in virtually every game this season. We keep going long and either cough up good ball to the opposition or get pinged for not straight.

Agree Dave Lewis deserves a start, bit early for Henry, would stick with Gareth for his high % kicking rate - think this could be a tight one.

Starting off very quick, getting in our faces and before we know it we are behind.
Second half was a vast improvement but in fairness we were already beaten.
Sam Hill, Tom James, Dave Ewers and Lewis when he came on were the positives.
Line out is shocking....what's gone so wrong here?
The run of Tom James and the pressure Chiefs put on was excellent, if we had gone over then with 15 mins left on the clock I personally think we would have gon on to win.

Agree with a lot of whats been said already, I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few changes next week, hooker, scrum half ( would be interesting to put DL in against his old club), possibly FH & a centre, but what do I know. If we hadn't tried to force things which led to their 2nd "soft" try, we might have been discussing a totally different result.

I think there could well be changes for the trip to Gloucester.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Dave Lewis start, and possibly Matt Jess as well.
May be time to give Scays a rest - he looked a bit off the pace against the Tigers.

It would be very hard, and a bit unfair, on Jack Yeandle if he were to be dropped. He is very mobile in the loose...he tackles hard & carries well.
Henry Slade is a cracking young player - but in a tight game away from home it could be a mistake to leave a player with a kicking percentage of over 90% on the bench ?

I know Tom Hayes may not be 100% ?...but would he make a big difference with the line-out call ?

And Finally, and I know this may not go down too well - but was it the right decision to make Dean Mumm Captain ? There are a number of senior players that have been with the team & squad for a number of years now & are regulars in the match day 23 - players like James Hanks (when fit)...Haydn Thomas...Tom Johnson...Brett Sturgess...Matt Jess...Gareth Steenson...Phil Dollman.
O.K, so maybe not all of them have the necessary "leadership skills", but I can't help but wonder if picking one of the "new boys" Rocked the boat a bit ??

Seriously? One of our best players last season and has been there a whole season. If after 1 season you're not part of the squad we have cliques going on and that would be bad news

On another note I'm amazed by how much call for change there is. Yes the line out needs work and we need to hold onto the ball more in the first 20 but we were a intercept try away from a LBP against the champs. Lets have some perspective, yes rotation thinking about the long haul but no to change just because we lost 1 game.

Incisive and makes a good point about leadership on the pitch. I think Dean Mumm was a good choice as captain and would be my first name on every teamsheet. However, we now have a number of players who have over 50 premiership starts in our team and, together with the captain, should be able to make changes in the way they are playing, on the pitch instead of waiting till half time to let the coaches tell them what to do.

50pointer makes a good point about their second try. Had we gone in at half time only 8-0 down I reckon we would have won this one. Okay we did not score a try but Tigers were very cynically killing our ball in the red zone and on another day, with another ref, could have picked up a yellow card which could have been a game changer.

We have lost two games to the teams that played in the play-off final last year so lets not get to carried away.
The worrying thing for me is how slow we have started in every game - we managed to turn it round against Wasps and Irish but the big boys do not let you do that.

I watched the recorded game last night and the first half was not good from a Chiefs point of view.
However, looking again at the second half I was struck by how we really had Tigers rocking back with wave after wave of attacks!
IF there had been another ref - yellow cards for offsides under their posts,
IF Dave L had not hesitated when he tapped and went..support was there and then the ref mistook the knock on...
IF Welch had managed to get the ball away to Tom J...
IF Shoey/Ewers/TJ had just managed to burst through...
Well, we would have been celebrating and not wringing our hands and calling for wholesale changes after only the fourth game of the new season.
The scoreline flattered Tigers in the end but they did outmuscle us in the scrums and 'played a good stalling game' as well as 'helping' the ref with decisions.
True, Dolly had his worst game ever but if you look at what we almost did - even when playing very badly - and you add to that the result from the Braves against Bath last night - you will see many, many reasons not to be too down about Sat's result and look forward to a top 4 finish - by which time it will all have clicked into place!!

You shouldn't be too negative imo - that was close and in eth first 15-20 of the second half you played the best rugby of the match. But you can't really count out the if onlies like that - because there were just as many the other way.

Well I had enough of a headache just getting a ticket for this game - eventually wound up in SWT!

As a result, the first Leicester try was right under my nose - no way in hell should it have been given!

That doesn't excuse the rest of the first half however, can't remember the last time we were held scoreless for the first half!

The problem wasn't the defence this time, given the amount of pressure the Tigers were putting on that was relatively good. The problem was very bad retention of posession, we just weren't able to get anything going at the other end.

Second half was much better, we did outscore them and could have gotten back into the match but couldn't keep the momentum going.

Still 8th which could be worse given our opening form. Long way to go.

Think I remember the commentators saying it was the first time in the prem.

I think that the most disappointing and frustrating things about the game and for the season so far are problems with the basic skills. Passing, handling and basic decision making have been below the expected standard so far. Perhaps we should concentrate more on the basics in order to kickstart our season.
