Gillingham assistant manager Mick Docherty praised his manager Ronnie Jepson for letting him have full control of Gills' game with Bournemouth last Saturday. 'Doc' described it is a great feeling to have a manager who with so much trust in his number two.
Following the game, 'Doc' said: "Ronnie just let me get on with the job and he did not contact me all afternoon."

"I spoke to him and he told me just to get on with the game and he would speak to me later - it is a great feeling to have him trust me like that.

"We played three in the middle of the park to deny Bournemouth space and that worked really well in the first half. They changed their formation and went like-for-like with us and we found that difficult to cope with."

Bournmeouth manager Kevin Bond was just relieved that his side stayed in League One for another season. Bond said: "We gave away a poor goal and were chasing the game but James Hayter got us a terrific goal.

"We did what we needed to do over the past six to eight weeks - that's kept us safe, which is a good achievement. When I first came we were in the cart, and then after six weeks we were really in the cart - so we've done well.

"Since New Year, our home form has been good, we've been more than a match for most of the teams here and that's what's given me something to cling on to.

"What we haven't had, in all fairness, is consistency. Maybe we need to be more resilient away from home, and not too gung-ho. Having said that, we've won away three times since I've been here, and I've been at clubs and gone all season without a win."
