Grimsby deny Pouton link

Grimsby have denied rumours linking them with a move for Gills midfielder Alan Pouton. Pouton joined the Gills from Grimsby under three years ago, and was a fans favourite with the Mariners fans. It was originally claimed that the Mariners were on the verge of a deal for the 29 year old.
Pouton seemed to become a different player towards the end of last season and was a key part of the Gills' six consecutive wins.

But after summer signings, Pouton's first team opportunities have been limited. He was starting to win over Gillingham fans but will now have to try and impress on the training ground to win back a place.

"Reports that Alan Pouton is about to re-sign for Town are inaccurate," said a statement on the Mariners official site.

"The Mariners have spoken to an unnamed midfield player but a deal to bring him to Blundell Park has yet to be concluded."
