Ronnie Jepson has today spoke of his belief that his Gillingham youngsters are starting to establish themselves as senior players who look set to lead the club to hopefully bigger and better things in the future....
Speaking to the Kent Messenger, Ronnie said "I’m quite honest with my players. The likes of Paul Smith are players of the past and we’ve got a new crop.

"It is up to people like Crofts and Flynn to pick up the mantle. Hopefully we can go on from here.

"I think there’s more improvement to come from the players and at the moment I’m trying to install that belief in them."


Jepson has got in a lot of of youthful players this season, with Ronnie earlier claiming that one of the reasons for Gillinghams relegation from the Championship two years ago, is that the side consisted of two many verterans. The relegated squad included the likes of Smudger (Paul Smith), Andy Hessenthaler, Chris Hope, Trigger (Nicky Southall), Iwan Roberts, Tommmy Johnson, Barry Ashby and Mark Saunders - all over 30.

But this years squad include youth mixed with expierience - including Brent Sancho's world cup expierience. Two exciting youngsters in the shape of Matty Jarvis and Dean McDonald look set to lead Jepsons exciting squad to hopefully an improved finish than last season.
