The club announced Martin Hinshelwood as manager this evening. Hinshelwood was the teams current youth coach. The club chose Hinshelwood over a large number of other options both... Ending a 10-week gap, the club appointed Martin Hinshelwood as manager this evening. Hinshelwood was the youth director at the club previous to this appointment. Hinshelwood was not the most obvious choice of manager, even within the club, and his appointment may anger some fans. Many fans believed that if the club was to give the managerial job to an existing member of staff, they would have been better to give it to Dean Wilkins or Bob Booker.

Hinshelwood has no major managerial experience, but obvious chairman Dick Knight considered him to be the best choice. One feature of Hinshelwood's career that has something in common with former manager Peter Taylor is that he spent some of his career at arch-rivals Crystal Palace.

No matter what reason Hinshelwood was chosen, it puts anmd end to almost 11 weeks of speculation among the fan base, and allows the club and its new manager to concentrate on the more important business of getting in new players and getting the players we already have ready for the new season, and the struggle for a respectable league position in Division 1 next season.
