Iwelumo Contract Offer Withdrawn

By Kian Duffy
July 7 2004

Acording to todays Argus, Mark McGhee has withdrawn the offer of a two year contract to striker Chris Iwelumo, as he had not responded in time McGhee apparently lost patience with the former Stoke striker as he had not responded to the contract offer within prompt time. This now releases the wages that Iwelumo was being paid to be used for another player, and also means the club will not have to pay Stoke City for Iwelumos services last season, as he did not sign for the club.

Iwelumo did not return from his holiday for pre season training either, which presumably was the major cause of McGhee's annoyance with him
