For the second time in as many years, the Seagulls have been promoted. From 91st place of 92 in the football league only a few years ago... From 91st place of 92 in the football league only a few years ago, with little or no prospects and the then Vauxhall Conference staring them in the face, the club have worked their way back up to the 1st Division, and with the prospect of a 25,000 seater stadium, at Falmer, looming over the horizon, things have not looked better for ages. Numerous players with ability to score goals this season (Zamora, Steele, Carpenter, Lewis, Gray and others), and a good Goalkeeper in Michel Kuipers have all been contributing factors in this success. However, little would have been possible without the contribution of the managers, Micky Adams, new Leicester City boss, and Peter Taylor, former England coach. Over all, the biggest contributing factor has been Bobby Zamora’s 50+ goals over the past two years. And I suppose Chairman Dick Knight as to get credit for saving the club from the grip of Bill Archer and David Belotti.

As with last years’ title, the championship almost went to the wire, with Reading, Brighton, Brentford and Huddersfield all attempting to get into the top two places. And, as with last year, we still do not know the Nationwide 2nd Division champions, but this crown also seems destined to fall to the Albion.
