The travel club are running a coach to DEVON V CORNWALL 18th may Kick off 14:30 @Brixham RFC, at time of going to press, there were still some spaces left on the coach, £10 for a return trip, contact them for details albitravel@gmail.com before 12th May
Six teams in each of the North and South divisions, but each team only plays three games in each division. You don't play every team in the division (at least in one season). Not only that, you may have 2 away games and 1 home or vice versa.
It seems that the draw can significantly influence your chances of progressing to the final.
Devon have 2 home games, but a tough away game against Gloucestershire. The home game v Cornwall will be tough.
Cornwall have 2 away games starting away at Kent. Their home game is against Hertfordshire who made the final last year.
Gloucestershire seem to have the most favoured draw.
Lets hope the Green and Whites can get a win today
I'm looking forward to the clash at Brixham. It may not be a great game due to the restricted time that the teams have together but the occasion and atmosphere should be brilliant. In my mind, the County Championship still has its important place in the rugby calendar. Well done the players who put themselves forward after a long, hard season.
Mugford opened the scoring with a try, and closes it with a monster penalty kick to win the game (with the last kick of the game). John Kelly and Billy Pinkus x2 also scored tries for Devon.
All credit to Devon who kept going until the very end but Cornwall looked very good especially in the second half. It was an excellent occasion and a good game considering both teams have had limited time together. All credit too to Brixham Rugby Club for all the hard work that obviously went into preparing for the event. Good job! Good luck Cornwall in the final!
