Roth's wrath to count?

By a quirk of fate, this weekend sees the two most "challenged" teams in the C'ship face up as we welcome Rotherham Titans to the Brickfields. Our financial and sporting worries need no elaboration, but our visitors face an all together different crisis. Their landlords at Clifton Lane are refusing to renew their lease and the prospect of a move outside the municipality looms large if the matter can't be resolved for next term. 

Rotherham are currently fifth in the table and still in with a shout for the play-offs. But they were dealt a hard lesson lesson in the the realities of the B&I Cup at the weekend. They had done well enough in the Pools stages to gain home advantage in the QFs, when a high octane Leinster side bundled them out of the tournament on Saturday. The reigning champs led by 29 points at the break - even with a man down for two occasions. The Titans made a recovery of sorts in the second period, but still came away 18 points adrift. Their start to this league campaign was solid enough, but with only two wins out of five in the most recent C'ship games, they have lost their top four slot to Nottingham.

Albion, of course, have their backs firmly against the wall, but have managed to more than double their points tally in January - and we and shouldn't forget that one of the recent Roth defeats was to Moseley... Grasping at straws? Maybe, but the fact that we gave their usurpers a run for their money away from home should give the Titans' players and coaches food for thought this week.

Other news from around the league is that Scottish have lost (another!) head coach. Phil Greening is rumoured in certain quarters to be in line to take over. (Late edit: Gavin Henson has signed for Bristol for 2015/16...)
