The boys are here again

The season gets off to an early start at Brickfields this evening, and for the next three evenings, with the R.M. 350 anniversary performances to be held on the pitch. If the club thought that they were having to go the extra mile for a flying start to the season, then this has turned everthing on it's head with a truly, military like operation and organization to provide us with a spectacle for the next four nights.

This of course has been in the making for months with many meetings and discussions held at the ground prior to the start of the preparations needed to hold such a prestigious event at Brickfields. Something perhaps to rival the well attended "Music of the Night" events held at the Citadel for so many years, wouldn't that be great if it were to develope into a regular thing perhaps.

The visual effect of this production started last Friday when the massive stage arrived from Buckinhamshire on three enormous vechicles which were parked up outside the ground waiting their turn to unload.

I'm not sure where the fork lifts came from perhaps locally as it doesn't look as if they had room to bring them on the wagons as well. It didn't take long for the sections to be unloaded in the sequence needed for construction, perhaps they had done it all before ?

And then a J.C.B. arrived to lend a hand

The size and position of the stage now starts to take shape, hope the grass stands up well, which I must say at this time, that Interserve, not Invertec, as I have been calling the firm previously, sorry, is doing a brilliant job looking after the pitch and on this occasion helping out with the surrounding grassed areas prior to this event. Many thanks to the groundmen who are gradually producing a lovely playing area for the club.

Now we jump forward to this Tuesday when the final touches are being put into place. 

And the MTV crash thought they had the only big "tent" in town, sorry. At least we at Brickfields have a number of watering holes which I'm sure that Ben the bar manager won't let run dry as per the Hoe and with not too long a wait for your liquid sustanance either, you can also bring your picnic to the ground unlike some other venues I'm told and of course you can also have a meal on the day if required. A well organized and run event it seems which doesn't cost £50 odd a ticket either, and at which you can also sit down whilst watching the celebrations. 

And finally a phot from the base of the now removed North Stand which we hope will soon be resurrected in some for or another.

I'm not sure but do you think that the covered stand right in front of the stage is for the dignitarys and of course for the Duke of Edinburgh, they will certainley get a front seat from there.

Let's hope the weather holds fair for the duration and that it's a success for all concerned.
