200 Club luncheon - September 2013

September 9 2013

This looks like becoming a firm favourite with members of the 200 club.  The weather was glorious and most of us took advantage of it and sat at the tables on the club house patio.  Since our previous get-together in August Lynn has started the Wednesday pasty lunch.  Consequently everybody there last Wednesday had a pasty, mostly washed down with a pint, there were a few dissenters but they were the duty drivers.    Large wholesome pasties there were too, you have to go a long way to find a better pasty.

The Cornish may have claimed territorial rights over the name but how dare they, the earliest reference to such a meal has been found in an ancient Devonian manuscript.  Name doesn’t matter as us Janners know them as ‘oggies’.

There was much talk about the forthcoming ‘Meet the Players’ event and of course the lack of a final war-up match at the weekend.  However optimism is high throughout the club with encouraging signs everywhere.  The Gloucester game was also the topic of many conversations as the team performed well against an experienced side.

As is now the custom, it will be a tradition by 2014, the 200 monthly draw was held with two lucky numbers being drawn from the bag.  This was the last draw of the year.  Don’t worry the draw in October will be the first of the new season.

Over the years the 200 club has contributed many thousands of pounds to the club.  The latest amount raised during the last season was presented at ‘Meet the Players’.  This season there will be a player sponsored by the 200 club.  This should draw attention to its activities.  200 club money will still all go to the club as sponsored players do not receive the sponsorship cash.

Membership of the 200 club is £52 per year, i.e. £1 per week.  Are you a member, if not please contact Vince and join.  As a famous supermarket says, “Every little helps”.

Date for your diary: next gathering will be Wednesday 2nd October, hope to see you there.

Yours Aye,

Keith.

was a lovely day, am going to try to book time off work for the next one. The pasty was wonderful and the Doombar was washing it down nicely smiling smiley

(Sm129) Don't let anything get in the way of a good game of Rugby
