Plymouth Head teacher Kevin Norris, who skippered Albion in the late 1980’s, has taken up an invitation to join the club’s Board.

Norris, who played for Albion from 1982 to 1992, speaking about his appointment said, “I’m delighted to take up the invitation to join the Board of Plymouth Albion RFC. With a new Head Coach and a number of new players, I’m really looking forward to next season, which should be the start of an exciting period for Albion.

“As an ex player and a supporter I hope my rugby background will be of assistance to the club and the Board.”

Albion Chairman Dr Graham Stirling said, “Kevin has strong links with Albion having played for ten seasons, and captaining the side from 1988-1990.

“Kevin has always been a big fan of Albion and we are really pleased that he has accepted our invitation to join the Board. He brings with him a good knowledge and understanding of the game.

“With his education links and enthusiasm for community rugby, Kevin has lots of ideas about further engaging with schools, local rugby clubs as well as developing our community rugby programme.

“Kevin will be a real asset to Albion and I’m personally looking forward to working with him.”

I'm pleased to see an out and out rugby man such as Kevin join the rest of the board and with his educational contacts will be able to kick start the community rugby again for the club where we were quite strong at one time I thought.

And of course this will be a strong building plank for Albion in creating stronger ties with the local community for the future, good move.

Agree noibla but as someone mentioned at the S/Holders meeting must be wary of what happend when a previouse ex Albion player came on board! cost the club? money.

Lets hope he's the real deal plymboy, I don't know him from Adam as they say but we have to have someone like him on board so lets keep our fingers crossed. As long as both parties have done their homework it should be o.k.

Many of us who have been supporting Albion for a while know Kevin well he was and still is a good lad and a very good back row player, and he was a good skipper as well.
Also he is far removed from the last Albion player who was on the board. The expression 'chalk & cheese' springs to mind.
