Good work, fella! As the season comes to a conclusion, the rugby will no longer be the focus and squad re-structuring/composition will come to the fore. Thanks for putting out some facts and informed opinion.

Doubtless, the Club will endeavour to manage the whole process for the duration of the summer, maximising the media exposure right up until the first competitive fixture of 2013/14. With the new Head Coach and Press Officer in place, let's hope we can "keep it real".

Come cheer up, my lads - 'tis to glory we steer!

More on Chris Elder "through the grapevine". Presumably he is Paul Bailey's replacement:

"Excellent signing for you. Was with Wasps in 11/12, released by them to our surprise. Big, quick, great hands and a good kicker. Has played 10,12,13,15 for us and may well make the N1 dream team. I think he is one of the best prospects at 20 that I've seen at this level. I presume Shanners hand is behind this signing!"

Likewise sorry to see Bevon go and to some extent Paul - I think he was put in a difficult position when kicking is not his forte.

Possibly some experience coming to arrive in the shape of Pale Nonu, although Redruth are also in the running for that signature.

Does seem like we will be shedding a lot of experience from the backs, but from the 'phrasing' does sound like the last of the departures. Let's see how wrong I can be.

I got an impression that Bevan wasn't all that happy with the way some people have been treated, and he may have had some personality issues off the park with ' management '. I am not surprised he is going, but very disappointed.

We usually lose one third of the squad and with everything that's happened in the last 18 months, more changes are only to be expected. I have to say I am surprised at the number of times Debbie is quoted. Our CEO has never been that involved in these decisions previously ( so far as I know ).

Crib from the rolling maul site

"Good luck to Pale & family in Plymouth, I really enjoyed watching him for Roth where if you overlook the one thing he conspicuously can't do (go past people at pace) you get a tremendous defender, good hands, a bruising runner and a great teammate."

"Pale Nonu is a good signing for Plymouth. Albion consistently know what it takes to stay in this league, and by signing a player like Pale they prove that. He makes the hard yards and is a rock definitively. Its perhaps a signal that those expecting plymouth to play expansive rugby will be disappointed though."

"Surely Nonu can be an attacking weapon, getting over the gainline and attracting defenders (he's a big unit) and creating space for others to run off him. So not necessarily an indication that Albion won't be playing expansive rugby."

These are comments from other clubs and may give us an insight into the man, seems good to me.

Shanners spelled out his view of DR on Thu evening - they are "bonus players" and he "will not be dictated to by the loaning club" (especially as regards position). On all occasions, he would pick a 22 man squad to "win games" (including B&I ties). That seems to say all there is on the matter (which ain't a whole lot to be honest.)

He also made it clear that there will be no 2nd XV in the short term - loaning out to local clubs in lower leagues will be the way to get game time across the squad.

You would expect players to move from the Academy to the parent club's squad - some sooner than others, and younger players to take their place.

To have the same players return, and more on our terms (including additional training days) can only be viewed as a bonus.
