An announcement from Plymouth Albion

Media Speculation   Plymouth Albion has today issued a statement following the recent announcement that Nat Saumi will be leaving Brickfields at the end of the season. The Plymouth Albion board wish to make their supporters and sponsors aware that names which have been speculatively mentioned in today’s Herald are both misleading and unhelpful in their recruitment process for a new Director of Rugby/Head Coach.   Debbie Fisher Acting CEO stated that many wildly differing names had been mentioned in relation to the recruitment process, some may be speculative unless the individuals themselves have spoken to the press to confirm their interest. However, because of the duty of care that Plymouth Albion must exercise under the Data protection act they are NOT in a position to confirm or deny whether named individuals have submitted an application.   Wild speculation in the press may in certain circumstances give some individuals difficulty in their current employment which Plymouth Albion would not wish to be responsible for.   Albion have agreed to co-operate with the media as soon as they are able to announce Nat Saumi’s successor and until then they will be making no further comment

Seems to me that this is a perfectley good reason as to why the club don't put out unresolved confidential matters even though we think they should "tell all" at the drop of a hat.

(Sm152) We have enough on our plate with the on field cautions at the moment.

I've re-read the report. It was not Debbie. The suggested names were not in quotes but Herald suggestions/speculations.

Interesting poofball clubs release names, they obviously interpret duty of care and data protection differently to Debbie.

Debbie has a background of HR so I would trust her intterpretation.
