Recent results between the two sides show that Albion have won 5 time drawn 1 and lost 8 times this century. Albion had a 6 match unbeaten run but since December 05 have only managed to pick up 3 losing bonus points.

Warriors and Ladies are with out a match this weekend so the only rugby available for the Albion is up the A38 at Sandy Park.

For the first time this season we meet out 'rivals' up the road. For those making the trip up the A38, The supporters coach is travelling and avoiding the ‘wobbly bridge’, there are those going by train, car and the ‘brave’ Albion exiles who live in Exeter under cover who will ‘come out of the closet’. 

Expectations are running high, only the 4th game of the season. Will it be a ‘white wash’ from the Chiefs, or will Albion be able to get their first win over the chiefs since 2005 

The chiefs pushed for promotion last season and were well on their way to the premiership, when an unfortunate decision to make a ‘double header’ of the cup game and league game didn’t pay off, as they lost the one match, which saw the cup and premiership hopes slip away. The chiefs had a ‘change of staff’ towards the end of last season and their playing squad has been reduced. 

There has also been rumours of money troubles at the ground, with the chiefs mortgaging part of their ground to stay on a financial ‘even keel’ and reports in the press that they are hoping to ‘break even’ financially this year. Whether this will affect the team on the pitch and training behind it only time will tell, will they be pushing for the premiership again or just be happy staying in the top 8 keep their finances on track. 

On the pitch so far the Chiefs are doing well, their first game of the season away to Moseley the chiefs won 50 – 25, second game home to the Knights won by 32 – 20. Last week Chiefs travelled to Coventry, a Friday night game, the chiefs ran away at half time by 17 to nil, and on the full time whistle they won 27 to 13. The chiefs have played 3 won 3, sitting 4th in the championship. Their average gate is 3573, but with the local derby, they may see the same attendance as last year (6658) 

Players to watch out for, well as this is only the 4th game there is not much separation between their players. Gareth Steenson has the most points in a match, 19 against the Knights, in total he has scored 46 points with 11 conversions and 8 penalties – so he will be the one to watch with ‘the boot’. Matt jess has 3 tries to his name and on the ‘naughty step’ is Chris Bentley who has a yellow card to his name 


CD’s prediction: Chiefs on their own ‘turf’ Albion not won on Chiefs land since 2005, Albion having not found their ‘footing’ in the last 2 games. It’s going to be a tough one, but think the Chiefs will get the derby scalp by 6 points – PROVE ME WRONG ALBION!!

My spy in the camp was not meant to cause offence, if it did then i apologise. I was mearly remarking on the rumours/press reports on chiefs finances, the same way that i did on the coventy/london welsh problems last season (and the problems they will have this season)
It was not meant to be disrepectful, or as a 'put down' to your club, it was mearly a report of what i had read in the exeter press, it was meant to be a compliment as your club had looked at it's finances (the same as ours did last season) and took steps to avoid 'blackholes' rather than do a 'london welsh'

Albion to win by three points in a low scoring game.

There is no need to apologise Cider Drinker.Is'nt it funny how as soon as somebody mentions Exeter Chiefs finances,certain posters start to growl and show there teeth,it's like somebody has touched a nerve.
I read your Spy in the Camp article and thought it was very good.
Shame you can't make the game on Saturday, perhaps we can have a chat over a glass of apple juice at Brickfields later in the season.
