4,000,000!!!

4 million hits

By Frank Stormont
October 15 2008

Before this site is 3 years old it has reached 4,000,000 hits. Where should we go next? Is there still a need for the site? Who can help with input???

Congratulations

Over the next few days this site will receive its 4 millionth page impression (hit).

Great news as less than 3 years ago this site did not exist. Many things have changed over the time that has been on line and things have changed too on other websites.

I set the site up in the first place to get more information out to the supporters faster and in more detail. The messageboard side of the site did not interest me although now this sees 3 to 4 times the hits that the stories and information pages do.

Before the site was set up there was very little information on the official website and the local paper's site did not release information on matches until mid day on Monday. This was not too bad if you had been at the home match but if it was an away match then it was a bit of a time to wait.

I tried to get reports up on the day or the day after the match with photos, stats and other match information. Now on This is Plymouth you get minute by minute update of home and away matches, a report within minutes of the completion of the match and even an opportunity to vote for your man of the match. They even had their own player the season in April this year.

A professional outfit like that can afford to pay 3 individuals at all matches who can provide a great output that will always win over one individual who runs the site as and when he is well enough to update it. I will always do my best for the supporters of Plymouth Albion but maybe I need to look again at what is on the site. I am sorry that reports and photos have been limited this season.

I have also set up a micro site for Devon Rugby and large amount of National League One data.

Although the site continues to grow we have now been overtaken by both Pirates and Chiefs in hits per day. Is this due to the lack of enthusiasm for Albion or is there something I can do to the site to make it more appealing? We sponsored players last season and Chiefs followed, now we show DVD of away games chiefs are talking about doing that too!

Some lead and others follow.

What Next??

If the site is to continue to run and provide information in the way it did last season.

Well ideally I would like someone to write match reports on the day of the match or the day following. These do not need to be detailed as I can add the stats of the match after (players and scores)

It would be nice if someone could write the opponents part of spy in the camp. - How the side is doing, some of the players to watch out for.

Please give me ideas s to what you want and if I can do it I will!

4,000,000, thank you's Frank in anticipation for ALL your hard work, it's easy sometimes to sit in front of the p.c. and read or write on the board whilst forgetting the input that has to be made in order to make that possible.
