Nathan Ellington rumours knocking around the place

Wigan Athletic have been linked with a surprise move for former strike ace Nathan Ellington, who left Latics to join West Bromwich Albion last summer.

The 24-year-old scored 59 goals in 134 league games for us, helping us gain promotion from the Championship last season.

However, Ellington surprisingly quit the JJB Stadium to join West Brom in a £3million move, but has scored just five goals in 26 Premiership appearances (more than half of these as a substitute) for the Baggies.

Paul Jewell however, has not commented on these rumours, but is in no doubt that his side needs more firepower.

He said: "When you look at the home league matches, we scored four against Manchester City, three against Charlton, and two against Arsenal and Bolton.

"But it has just been the one goal in many of the others and that is something we have to try and improve on for next season."
