Latics defender Matt Jackson has admitted he may have to seek pastures new in the summer, despite revelling in the blues success this season.

Whilst former Everton stopper Jackson admits he has enjoyed the club's rise to prominence, he realises he has been a victim of their success, as Arjan de Zeeuw and Stephane Henchoz have restricted his first team appearances..

 

The club captain is unsure as to whether he will be offered a new deal at the end of the current campaign, but he admits he would be delighted to stay at The JJB Stadium and continue being a part of Latic's story.

 

"It's been a fabulous time, we've done fantastically well and the league position shows what we have accomplished in that respect," Jackson said,

 

"The fact we've been to a major final has been superb, we are still trying to be competitive for that European place now, with eight games to go.

 

"Obviously, I would like to play for as long as I can, I keep myself nice and fit and I've really enjoyed being around here.

 

"My contract here is up in the summer and we'll see what that brings, but I'm sure I can carry on playing in some capacity and just see where my life takes me.

 

"I get on great with everybody here at management and board level, there is no issue in that respect.

 

"I would love there to be an offer, I would love to stay but as I say, we will wait and see.

 

"If it comes out that there needs to be a different opportunity somewhere else then so be it."
