Latics welcome back striker Henri Camara from the African Cup of Nations, but Jason Roberts serves the third of his three game ban and David Connolly (hamstring) is also missing. Pascal Chimbonda returns after his ban and Neil Mellor is available, but Reto Ziegler is not allowed to feature under Premier League rules.

Top scorer Mido is expected to start for Tottenham following his substitute appearance against Sunderland after returning from the African Nations Cup.

Spurs have only won once in their last five league games. The last time they managed to win two on the bounce was over the New Year when Egyptian striker Mido scored in both 2-0 wins over Newcastle and Manchester City.

Their recent slump has coincided with the popular Egyptian's absence whilst he took part in his country's victory in the African Cup of Nations. The 23-year old, currently on loan from Roma, has netted 9 goals in all competitions for his club and is the top scorer for Spurs.

Latics meanwhile have disciplined Henri Camara after he failed to return for last Saturday's match against Liverpool.

Camara, who had been at the African Cup of Nations, missed a flight from Senegal to France.

"There was definitely frustration about Henri's non-appearance," said Wigan assistant manager Chris Hutchings. "We weren't happy about it."

The club have dealt with the matter in house and the 28-year-old is in the squad face Tottenham on Sunday.

Hutchings added: "No-one is bigger than the team and the lads know that.

"The matter has been dealt with internally, Henri has to accept the punishment and we want to put the whole situation to bed.

Latics are keen to kick-start another winning sequence, knowing that victory would see them rise four places to fifth, above Arsenal and immediately below Tottenham. But they've lost all their games against the top seven clubs this season, with the exception of West Ham.

Chris Hutchings: "Our first aim was to reach 40 points and we have not got there yet.

"We need another draw and it is only when we get it that we will set another target for ourselves.

 

"We have spent most of the season in the top six or seven and we don't want to start slipping now."
