Although Latics have beaten Bolton twice this season, both times were at the JJB. Bolton have lost only once at the Reebok all season, a narrow 1-0 reverse to Everton in October.

Latics have a striker crisis with Jason Roberts banned and David Connolly and Lee McCulloch both still injured.

Henri Camara is also at the African Cup of Nations, but midfielder Graham Kavanagh is back after a suspension.

Bolton midfielder Khalilou Fadiga (knee) faces a battle to be fit.

Gary Speed (knee), Ivan Campo (foot) and Henrik Pedersen (Achilles) are all still out alongside Bolton's African Nations Cup contingent.

Latics boss Paul Jewell, recently linked with the vacant managerial position at Newcastle United said: "They have some really good players and I don't think people give them enough credit.

"They are very strong at the Reebok but our away form is as good as our home form so we don't mind playing away.

"But the whole place is buzzing at the moment and it is definitely the place to be."
