Time to stand up and be counted and show what we're worth. Now that the tougher of the festive fixtures are done with it's time to knuckle down and start getting the results and wins we deserve. A lot has been said in recent weeks as to our form and where we will end up by the end of the season. Paul Jewell and the whole of the latics squad have hidden their emotions most recently as to their disappointment of the recent results. But now it is time to stand up and be counted and show our worth as to our status in the premiership.

Wigan were extremely unlucky not to pick up at least a point in the home tie against chelsea, even making Jose Mourinho admit that his chelsea side was second best in the secound half and wigan well and truly deserved at least a point if not a win.

The result against Manchester United was somewhat of a different story, albeit we held our own in the first half. But the inspired substitution at half time of Christiano Ronaldo was simply too much to handle. Paul Jewell has commented at his disappointment at the way Wigan coped with set pieces.Jewell said "We had an idea that Ronaldo would come on for the reds, but even against the best teams you cannot concede from set pieces". All in all United built up a head of steam and the pressure just seemed too much for us not to conceed. A late penalty from Leighton Baines gave Wigan the consolation goal they somewhat desereved but this could not hide the disappointment of yet another defeat against one of the top teams in the premiership.

I think now is the time for us to show the rest of the Premiersip that we are not just another pushover team that flounders in the depths of the bottom quarter of the premiership and with the fixtures coming at us thick and fast, now is the time to turn all the good play that we offer into winning results, and no better time to start with an away win at Watford this Saturday and then a resounding home victory against local rivals Blackburn Rovers on new years day - heres hoping. Recent visitors of the Paralatic website may have noticed my reports and previews have been absent in recent weeks, I have been on a 2 week break in Barbados but am now back and raring to go.
