Kieth Wyness reacted in the Sunday Mirror regarding the fans who are asking for the axe for David Moyes as "Stupid". As Everton slump to sucessive defeats its clear that the season will start for us when the players become available. Wyness told the Sunday Mirror, "There's no doubt in my mind that David is the man to lead Everton."

"We have enjoyed our greatest period of success for over 15 years with David Moyes and we are trying to achieve that on a consistent basis.

"David has shown he can deliver and this is nothing more than a blip.

"In terms of the bigger picture we are very focused and David is doing a great job.

"The fact is we finished fourth last season which, if you look at it in terms of points per pounds or any measure like that, was more of an achievement than Chelsea winning the title.

"David has got all the desire we need to bring Everton forward on a consistent basis. I'm angered by the short-term approach - it seems to be the new disease in football.

"Fans are calling for managers to be sacked after only a few games and it's not just at Everton that this is happening.

"Look also at what is happening at Spurs where Martin Jol is under fire after the Carling Cup defeat in midweek - yet he is also doing a fantastic job at White Hart Lane."

It is then claimed in the article that Bill Kenwright invested £20m into Everton during the summer to allow David Moyes to bring in Per Kroldrup, Phil Neville, Mikel Arteta and Simon Davies, to name a few. Surely Davd Moyes' own top 4 finish, and more likely the sale of one Wayne Rooney were the source of David's transfer kitty?

But then, as Wyness states later in the interview, "lot of fans have short memories" - Not all of us Keith.

Also in the interview, Wyness describes European football as nothing more than "a distraction" - a point clearly illustrated by Everton's seemingly amateur approach to European trips to Villarreal and Bucharest - on and off the pitch at the latter.

Wyness added, "Our bread and butter is always going to be the Premiership and it's not as though we are out of the UEFA Cup yet, although being 5-1 down from the first leg means it's going to be a difficult to stay in the competition."
