As the toffee's early season form suggests its going to be a struggle for us this season to regain the sort of form that propelled us to the heights of last season. Marcus Bent has recently stated that some of the staff and team are "panicking".

But all is not lost.

A rumour has surfaced that The Flying Dutchman, Andy Van Der Meyde, could be on the bench on saturday for the home clash against Wigan. The winger may take several games to regain full fitness and to be a productive member of the squad, but he would certainly add options for Mr Moyes.

The squad is beginning to regain the sort of displays that impressed us so much against Villareal and one positive result against Wigan would change the season for us.

Its true that some of the players already looked physically and mentally drained but over the next few weeks we should be getting back Carsley and Per Kroldrup. Simon Davies will hopefully shake off the shin splints, along with James Beattie making a full recovery, would indeed give the squad a much needed injection.

James McFadden has stepped up in his game and the last few outings he has had and will be having to make or break his career at Everton as the Scottish Internationals is surrounded by rumours suggesting that he could be moved back north of the border in the next transfer window.

The only big concerns now are Naysmith and Vaughan who are out until November and Pistone will be lucky to make a come back this season after a herioc start from him ended in tragedy after a tackle. Get well soon lads!

With the transfer window still a few months away it will be a tough run up to Christmas but the team can only get better. Players with no interest in the club will come and go but Everton will always remain...and so will it's loyal fanbase....
