Bill Kenwright has vowed to support David Moyes in what the Scot calls "my darkest hour" after Everton's capitulation in Bucharest on Thursday. Kenwright said: “It’s David’s job to lift the players after a disappointment like this . . . and it’s my job to lift the manager.

“We’re friends and if I can help to raise his spirits then I’ll be delighted.

“Thursday night was all about broken dreams but now we must start the job of rebuilding and regrouping.

“Everyone was disappointed at going out in the Champions League qualifiers to Villarreal and now we’ve got a real fight on our hands to stay in the UEFA Cup.

“But the fact that we are standing here talking about Everton’s European prospects is a sign of how far this club has come when you consider where we were this time last year.

“Arsenal away is not the match we’d have chosen up next — but I’m sure we’ll soon put things right.

“It was never going to be easy after everything we achieved last season but it’s still very early days and we’ve only played four League games so far. We’ll be OK. We’re Everton and we will bounce back.”

David Moyes has been a breath of fresh air at Everton Football Club, and for 45 minutes on Thursday night, the tactics he gave his players to follow were controlling the game.

It certainly wasn't Moyes out on the pitch in the second half affording Dinamo too much space and failing to put a foot on the ball.
