Another season, another defeat at Fulham, another Everton player sent off by Mike Riley, another left back missing from the Everton ranks, and another miserable trip back from the capital for the travelling Evertonians. Phil Neville was unfortunate to be the victim of Mike Riley and ex-Blue Tomasz Radzinski as he saw red for the second of two dubious yellow cards in the last minute of normal time to leave Everton to rue missed chances and a lack-lustre second half performance.

The game started brightly, with Everton pressing hard in the first half, and having a number of chances, and it was against the run of play that Fulham took the lead after 57 minutes through another former Everton player, Brian McBride.

Volz attacked the Everton left, beating Kevin Kilbane easily, and played the ball square to Brian McBride, who placed his shot past Martyn – the second season in succession that the American has netted against his former club.

After that, Everton seemed to simply give up, Marcus Bent lost his heart and gave up the fight, although it has to be said that today and on Wednesday it has looked as though he is playing with an injury - something which gets harder when your side is losing.

All in all, Everton played well for periods before the goal, but another disappointing result in London for the Blues which leaves us with only 1 goal in the Premiership this season.
