It has taken over two years of trying but Abdoulaye Meite could finally be lining up for Bolton Wanderers in the Premiership next season. Reports featured in Le Parisien claim that the Wanderers have struck up a deal with Olympique Marseille to bring the Ivory Coast World Cup star to the Reebok Stadium next season.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce first declared an interest in the French-born stopper in 2004 and has followed his progress for Marseille in La Championnat and the UEFA Cup ever since.

The African would prove to be a ready made replacement for long serving Bruno N'Gotty who left the Trotters at the end of last season following five years excellent service.

In other news Manchester City have joined the Wanderers in the race to sign Liverpool's Didi Hamann, whilst the South Croydon press are linking Crystal Palace's much sought after midfielder Ben Watson with a move to South West Lancashire.
