Bolton Wanderers will receive a small payment should their former player Eidur Gudjohnsen complete his expected move from Chelsea to Barcelona. The 27-year old Icelander is expected to end his eight-year spell in English football later on this week after the Premiership champions agreed a fee of £8 million with their Spanish counterparts.

Gudjohnsen was a popular figure with the supporters of the Wanderers and Chelsea during his time in Britain but the chance to move to the Nou Camp to join one of European football's leading clubs is an opportunity too good to miss.

A Bolton spokesperson revealed that the club will receive a sell-on bonus as part of the transfer deal.

"As and when Eidur is sold by Chelsea the Club will receive a payment as part of the sell on clause written into his contract when he left the club to join Chelsea in 2000,"

Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Real Madrid and Valencia where also thought to be interested in signing the Icelandic national captain.
