Borgetti Picks Up Hamstring Problem

Jared Borgetti's World Cup campaign could be over with after he was withdrawn with a hamstring strain during Mexico's 3-1 win over Iran in Group D this evening. The Bolton striker left the action early in the second half after pulling up in a footrace with an Iranian defender and he is now considered extremely doubtful for the South Americans remaining group matches against Angola and Portugal next week.

Borgetti was a key player for the Mexicans during the last World Cup in 2002 and his fine header against the Italian team was considered to be a particular highlight.

Club team mate Hidetoshi Nakata will be in action for Japan against Australia tommorow afternoon and Radhi Jaidi will represent Tunisia in their game against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
