Former Bolton Wanderers favourite Youri Djorkaeff could be about to retire once the American Major Soccer League season comes to a close. The 38-year old admits that the prospect of hanging up his boots could be a real possiblilty when the schedule with current club New York Red Bulls reaches its conclusion in the winter of 2006.

World Cup winner Djorkaeff, who made a real impression in a two and a half year spell with Wanderers between 2002 and 2004, says that he cannot go on forever and will retire from the game whilst he still enjoys it.

"Yeah, I'm sure, No, no, no. I'm not sure. The French are never sure." said Djorkaeff to the USA press.

"I'm 38 and I'm sure my passion will be less than today, I'm sure I'll find less pleasure to go to training, I prefer to stop when I'm still happy and still enjoy playing soccer."

The skillful Frenchman had previously threatened to quit the American club following a 4-1 defeat at the hands of D.C United last season and told the coach Bob Bradley that he wasn't happy with the performance.

"I said OK, the players are not really involved in the game, an important game at home, I said, 'Bob, I have nothing to do here. If the game is like this, a derby, we play like this and players are not more involved, I lose my time.'"

During his time with Bolton the veteran forward appeared in 75 games and scored 19 goals and is still fondly remembered by the English public who where lucky enough to see him perform.
