Bolton Wanderers centre half Gary Cahill still beleives that the club has enough about them to avoid relegation to the Championship despite the fact that the Trotters sank to their third consecutive Premier League defeat at home to Liverpool yesterday lunchtime.

Former Aston Villa man Cahill was one of the better players on show in a poor Wanderers display and although the recent signing knows that it will be tough going into the final ten games of the season, he is confident that the club will secure their top flight status.

Half a dozen teams in the bottom half of the table are embroiled in the fight and the 22-year old beleives Newcastle United are also now amongst the clubs involved going into the season's final quarter.

"I said when I first came here that we are more than capable of staying up in this league, and I still believe that," he told the Monday edition of the Bolton News

"It's crunch time down there and a lot of teams are involved. Five or six teams have been sucked into it now, even the likes of Newcastle, and I think it will go to the wire. But I also think we've got enough to stay clear of it."

Cahill says that it is important that the team regroups well and remains upbeat for the important six pointer against Wigan at the JJB Stadium in just under two weeks time.

"It's difficult at the moment but it's important we don't let our heads go down. We've got 10 games left. We know we'll lose some of those 10 but, hopefully, we'll win some too. It's important for us to regroup and get that win that we need." added the former England U21 defender

Bolton have twice been relegated from the Premier League before back in 1996 and 1998. The 1996 experience saw the writing on the wall early on but ten years ago the clubs fate went right down to the last game of the season when they lost out to Everton on goal difference.
