Guthrie Wants To Stay

Bolton Wanderers on-loan midfielder Danny Guthrie says that he would welcome a permanent switch to the Reebok Stadium at the end of the season provided that parent club Liverpool would be willing to let him move away from Anfield.

The 20-year old was one of a dozen new recruits by ex-Trotters manager Sammy Lee in the summer and after making a slow start to his Bolton career he has now established himself as a first team regular.

So far in the 2007-2008 campaign he has made 24 apperances in Wanderers colours and he says that he would like to remain with the Lancashire club for as long as possible.

"A lot can happen between now and the end of the season, But I could see myself staying here. However, it's up to people above me to decide what happens.  I'm sure Liverpool have been monitoring my progress but I haven't spoken to anyone." said the former England youth international to the Manchester Evening News

"In terms of me staying, it is what the two clubs want to do and then it comes down to me. I came to Bolton to play regularly but it's a bonus to play against the likes of Atletico Madrid. You can test yourself against different opposition and a different style of play.

"It's been a difficult season but I'm hoping it will end on a good note. I'm loving it now. When I first came I wasn't getting too much of a look-in. But I'm involved on a regular basis now."

Guthrie made his Liverpool debut in a League Cup game against Reading and has also had a spell out on loan with Championship side Southampton.
